The 1st game of the 3-match T20I series between England and Australia will be played at The Rose Bowl in Southampton.
The match starts at 6:00 PM local time (10:30 PM IST) (5:00 PM UTC). This match can be viewed on Sony Six and Sony Six HD. It will be live-streamed on the Sony LIV.
Finally, Australia will be taking the field six months after playing their last international match. They will face England in the first of the three-match T20I series starting from September 4. The Aaron Finch-led side will be looking forward to playing some fearless cricket and looking ahead to the T20 World Cup next year as well. It will also be interesting to see how they fare since this is their first match in six months.
England, the hosts, have been ruling the home season. They won Test series against West Indies and Pakistan, ODI series against Ireland and drew the T20I series against Pakistan. The T20Is and ODIs against Australia concludes their international home season and the team will be keen on ending with series wins. Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer have returned to bolster their line-up and it is expected to be close game.
Southampton last hosted a T20I way back in 2017 when England faced South Africa. The surface is touted to be a good one to bat on. Last time Australia played at this venue, they posted a mammoth 248 runs in 20 overs.
Average first innings score: 177 (Last three T20Is played at this venue)

Glenn Maxwell is a freak when it comes to the shortest format of the game. This is his comeback to international cricket after almost a year and he would love to make it a memorable one for him. His average of 160.3 after 61 T20Is shows the way he bats and it remains to be seen if the Big Show will entertain the fans.
Jofra Archer is playing his first limited-overs game since the World Cup 2019 final. His skills are never in question and Australia will be wary of the threat he possesses. This is also only the second T20I of Archer’s career and no wonder he will be keen to make early inroads.
Eoin Morgan, the England skipper, is in the best of forms with the bat. His 66-run knock of 33 deliveries in a steep chase against Pakistan was one of the best innings in recent times. The southpaw will be crucial for England yet again.
England and Australia are arch-rivals and whenever these two teams meet, the game goes down the wire. The visitors have enough fire power to defeat the home team but they will be a bit rusty having not played international cricket in last six months. England, on the other hand, have momentum in the home season.
Our Prediction: England are expected to win this match.
