IPL 2022: “Ahmedabad Titans” the Ahmedabad Franchise Has Revealed Their Official Name for the IPL 2022
IPL 2022: A few days ahead of the mega-auction for IPL 2022, the Ahmedabad franchise has finally revealed its official name. Ten teams will be taking part in IPL 2022. Former eight teams and two new teams have been added this season: Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Lucknow has already revealed their team logo and official name. Lucknow team owner Sanjiv Goenka has announced the team’s name as Lucknow Super Giants.
However, the Ahmedabad team announced their team name on Monday. Ahmedabad will be called the Ahmedabad Titans from now on. As per the media reports, the official name will be Ahmedabad Titans.
The CVC Capital group will own the Ahmedabad team. CVC Capitals won the bid war for a whopping 5625 crores (over 692 million USD). The CVC Capitals’ bid was 160% more than BCCI’s base price for the IPL team. They were the second-highest bidders after RPSG Goenka Group and hence got the ownership of the franchise. The Ahmedabad franchise has appointed Ashish Nehra as the head coach of the team. The former pacer will be overall in charge of the squad. Here’s all IPL teams for this 2022 season.
IPL 2022: Ahmedabad Team’s Draft Picks and Remaining Purse Value
Ahmedabad bought three players as their draft picks ahead of the auction. Ahmedabad picked Hardik Pandya as their first draft pick for a massive amount of INR 15 crore. Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, is their second pick, who has been roped in with a whopping amount of INR 15 crore as well. Shubhman Gill is their third pick for INR 8 crore.
Earlier, it was reported that Ahmedabad would go with Shreyas Iyer and make him the captain. But, surprisingly, Ahmedabad chose Hardik Pandya to lead their team in the IPL. India’s 2011 World Cup-winning coach, Gary Kirsten, will work as the mentor of the team. Meanwhile, they have appointed former England cricketer Vikram Solanki as the Director of Cricket. Ahmedabad will enter the auction with a remaining purse value of INR 53 crore.

The mega-auction will take place between February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. More than 1200 players registered for the auction. However, the BCCI has shortlisted 590 players to come under the hammer. A team can pick a maximum of 22–25 players in the auction as per their purse value.

The Lucknow Super Giants have picked three players as their drafts picks. They have signed KL Rahul for a massive amount of INR 17 crore. Marcus Stoinis and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi are the other two picks for INR 9.2 crore and INR 4 crore, respectively. KL Rahul will be their team’s captain.
