PAK VS AFG: PCB Announces New Look Coaching Staff for the T20I Series
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the coaching and support staff for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, which is scheduled to start on March 24th. Abdul Rehman and Umar Gul have been appointed as Pakistan’s head coach and bowling coach. Mohammad Yousuf and Abdul Majeed will continue their roles as batting and fielding coaches.

Rehman replaces ex-head coach Saqlain Mushtaq at the helm. He has a wealth of experience in coaching teams. Prior to this role, he coached the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team in domestic cricket and is currently associated with Multan Sultans in the ongoing PSL 2023. Fast bowling legend Umar Gul is coming off a fresh stint with Afghanistan’s national team, where he served as the bowling coach. He has also been associated with Quetta Gladiators as their bowling coach.

PAK VS AFG: Umar Gul Named as Bowling Coach
Pakistan Cricket Board management committee chairman Najam Sethi revealed the names of the coaching staff for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Najam Sethi announced the national team’s support personnel for the away series.
“PCB announces Support Personnel for Sharjah T20Is. Abdul Rehman, Head Coach; Umar Gul, Bowling Coach; M Yousuf, Batting Coach; A Majeed, Fielding Coach; Drikus Simon, Trainer; Cliffe Deacon, Physio; Talha Ijaz, Analyst; Mansoor Rana, Manager; Ahsan Nagi, Media Manager,” tweeted Najam Sethi.
Earlier this week on Monday, PCB named a new-look 15-member squad for the Afghanistan series, which will be led by all-rounder Shadab Khan. Incumbent all-format Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, along with other senior players like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Rizwan have been rested. Four uncapped players, namely, Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub, Tayyab Tahir, and Zaman Khan were included in the squad. Azam Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Imad Wasim, and Abdullah Shafique, have earned a recall to the national T20I side after their phenomenal performances in the PSL 2023.
The three-match series between Pakistan and Afghanistan will commence on March 24, while the remaining two T20Is will be played on March 25 and March 27. All the matches will be played in Sharjah.
