BBL

The Big Bash League (officially known as the KFC Big Bash League due to a sponsorship deal) is Australia’s top T20 professional cricket league that had its first edition in 2011, when it was established by Cricket Australia.

BBL 2011-12 left: final between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers. Right: champions Sydney Sixers

The BBL is the successor of Twenty20 Big Bash, which ran from 2005 to 2011, when the organisers decided to change the league’s format and add two more teams. As of right now, the KFC Big Bash League features eight teams, each of which plays 14 matches in the double round-robin format. Afterwards, the top five teams progress to the playoff phase.

The typical BBL season usually runs from mid-December to early February and features a total of 61 matches, which have an average attendance of around 20,000 people. The current BBL champions are the Sydney Sixers, who also share the top spot for winning most BBL titles (3) alongside the Perth Scorchers.

Our prediction experts are big fans of the BBL, thoroughly following every season and being familiar with all the teams and their rosters. If you’re eagerly waiting for the next BBL season to start and are hoping to make some cash, we can help you prepare, as we release detailed BBL match predictions for every single match during both the regular season and the playoffs.

BBL News

Apart from doing match betting tips and making predictions, we also regularly publish Big Bash League news. Has any of the teams signed a new player? Are there some injured players that will miss the next round? What did coaches say about their teams’ performances after a blockbuster match? Answers to these and many other questions can be found in our News section before and after every game.

Why is this important? Well, knowing what’s going on in the league outside of the pitches and reading between the lines can help you predict the outcomes of the following matches better. If there are some controversies among teammates, it might suggest that the whole team’s chemistry is off and that they’ll perform poorly going forward. If an injury has occurred, it’s important to look into things like how that player will be substituted and how it will affect the chances of an entire team.

Like with any other news, it’s important for it to be fresh. Our experts work with league insiders and continually go through other cricket news outlets to find all stories relevant to the BBL. As soon as we spot a story worth sharing, we publish it in the shortest time frame, so keep an eye out on our News section to pick up on the articles that may affect the next match’s outcome and, therefore, your betting decision. If the bookies pick up the news before you, they will promptly change the odds and strip you of the opportunity to find a value bet.

While our goal is to make accurate and trustworthy BBL predictions, bettors are not the only ones who get to benefit from our website. Even if cricket betting is not your thing and you enjoy watching BBL because you’re just a cricket fan, you’ll find plenty of interesting stuff in our News section, as we also cover stories that don’t necessarily relate to betting predictions. The Big Bash League is one of the most prestigious cricket leagues in the world and a part of our primary focus, but that doesn’t mean we neglect other cricket competitions. That’s why you’ll also be able to find news on various other cricket leagues, like the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Cricket World Cup, and many more.

Keep refreshing that News page, as we tend to deliver several pieces a day, especially during the BBL season.

BBL Match Predictions

When we came up with an idea to launch Crictips, our goal was to create the best cricket knowledge hub for bettors and fans of the sport. We don’t need to tell you that we succeeded in making that goal a reality, as the numbers speak for themselves.
Thousands of cricket bettors storm our Prediction pages every day in search of good bets. Among them, there are hundreds of loyal visitors who have been with us for years and who have made a ton of money off of our suggestions. We do not guarantee that we will always make an accurate prediction — however, we can assure you that, if you stick to our predictions, you’ll have more successful bets than unsuccessful ones over time.

There isn’t any special secret to our success. Getting cricket predictions right isn’t some sort of psychic magic. Basically, when betting on any sport, the key to success is having knowledge about it, and that’s what we have plenty of.

More importantly, we know which things to look into when making our predictions. Afterwards, we put together the report in such a way that allows our readers to find what they’re looking for easily. Each prediction report consists of several segments, including match details, preview, pitch report, weather conditions, lineups and key players, and, finally, probable winners with the best odds.

Match Details

This is the part where you’ll find some basic information about a given BBL match. This includes the name of the two teams, the round, the stadium they’re playing on, and the date and the time of the match.

Take note of the exact time, as you’ll need to make your pre-match bets at least five minutes prior to the start. Of course, even if you are late to make pre-match wagers, it won’t be such a big deal, as most sportsbook sites in India allow live betting on the BBL.

Preview

The preview is where we talk a bit more about the two teams facing each other, like which teams they played in the previous round and how they performed against each other the last time they met.

We also expand on the current form of the two squads, their expectations for the season, their current position in the standings, potential injuries and lineup changes, and anything else that may seem important when predicting the outcome. Once we take all of this into consideration, we can conclude which team has an advantage going into the match.

Pitch Report

The ground on which a cricket match is played is very important when making a prediction. However, this does not necessarily refer to the fact that the home team has an advantage due to its home crowd and the fact that the match is played on a pitch the team is used to playing on — although this is definitely factored in as well.

Instead, a pitch report focuses on the type of pitch that hosts a BBL match. In other sports, like basketball or hockey, this is not so important, as these sports have standards for what their playing fields need to look like. However, there’s some wiggle room in cricket. For example, some pitches have more grass than others or feature a specific type of grass and dirt that make them flat or hard.

Depending on the pitch type, it can benefit certain types of players and teams, which, in turn, can help us predict which team has an advantage or whether the match will be low or high scoring.

Weather Conditions

A common mistake among rookie cricket bettors is that they don’t look at weather forecasts before a given match. Weather plays a big part in cricket, as the matches are held in the open. Things like humidity and temperature have an effect on how the ball bounces off the pitch, and just like in the previous section, a specific type of weather can benefit one team over the other.

You might think that looking at weather forecasts to give people a tip on which team to bet on is a bit wacky, but those are exactly the lengths that our experts are willing to go to in order to make an accurate prediction. We only collect precise weather data, and once we know what type of weather is expected on match day, it can help us give you a good tip.

Probable Playing XIs and Key Players

Making a good BBL match prediction involves looking into the smallest of details, but that doesn’t mean that we neglect the most important ones, like the actual players who will go out on the pitch and ultimately have a say in deciding the winner.

Sydney Sixers Squad 2021

Sydney Sixers Squad 2021

That’s why our reports always contain a list of 11 players for each team, who are expected to go out on the pitch come match day. The reason why we call them probable playing XIs is because we don’t actually know for certain which 22 players will be called out to play, as our predictions are made days in advance. Nevertheless, since we usually look at past lineups, player forms, and injury reports, our list of probable playing XIs is almost always accurate.

Sydney Sixers Squad 2021

Sydney Sixers Squad 2021

Additionally, we single out a player from each team, whom we refer to as a key player. This player is expected to make the biggest impact on the pitch for his team.

Probable Winners

After thoroughly analysing everything we’ve discussed above, we are ready to make a concrete prediction and tell you which team is expected to win the match. This is ultimately the only thing that most of our readers are interested in, so if you’re looking for a simple tip, scroll down to the bottom of each of our Prediction pages, and you’ll find who we picked.

Best BBL Odds

As we’ve mentioned earlier, predicting what’s going to happen in a BBL match is only one part of what we do here on Crictips. In addition to analysing the matches, we also search for sportsbooks that will give bettors the best odds for a particular face-off.

Each sportsbook has its own odds for every BBL fixture, and with plenty of betting sites available in India, we have to do some digging around in order to find the ones that are truly the best. Our goal is to search for those odds that seem slightly “off” and that have little to no vigorish to them, as these are the odds that truly bring value to the bettor.

Once we find the right odds, we display them at the bottom of our Prediction page, together with links that will lead you to a corresponding BBL betting site.

You can rest assured knowing that all betting sites you find the link to here on Crictips are licensed and safe.

BBL Schedule

If you plan on making the most out of the Big Bash League regular season and playoff, you need to know when and where the matches take place. The BBL always releases a full schedule before each season, and you can find it right here on Crictips. From there, you can bookmark the matches you’re interested in and discover our predictions for it a few days before it’s about to take place.

Since cricket matches depend on weather conditions (for example, a match is postponed due to rain), there always might be some changes to the BBL schedule. But worry not — as soon as a match is postponed and rescheduled, we will change the schedule on our website accordingly.

Looking at the BBL schedule is also important from the prediction standpoint. For example, a team might have a stretch of tough games, which will definitely affect their performance, or they might rest some players for a game they are certain to win anyway and focus on the more important match up ahead.

BBL Scoreboard

As soon as a BBL match is finished, we will give you a full report, alongside the correct score, top performers, and other details. We always double-check our stats, so you can be sure that the BBL scoreboard you find here on Crictips is correct. The stats will include the number of runs and overs, lost wickets, player scores, and more.

Analysing this information will come in handy when trying to predict future outcomes. The more stats you have, the easier it is to spot trends and use that knowledge for the next match those teams are playing.

But even if you don’t have the time to look at previous scores, it won’t matter, as our experts will do it for you and take it into account when releasing their next prediction.

Simonds Stadium, Pitch Report

Simonds Stadium hasn’t hosted a lot of BBL games, thus, both Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers will be unaware of the playing conditions and behavior of the pitch. The deck offers assistance to both the bowlers and the batters.

Bowlers especially seamers receive assistance from the surface early in the game. With the help of the pace and bounce offered by the pitch, the pacers can make a difference in the first innings. Batters, on the other hand, enjoy more success while batting in the second innings.

Weather Forecast

The weather will be partly cloudy as Perth Scorchers will go up against Melbourne Stars in the upcoming BBL 11 contest. Rain won’t be playing spoilsport during the game as the weather forecast suggest that the precipitation chances are just 20 percent.

The temperature on January 11, Tuesday is likely to be around 26 degrees celsius with a wind speed of 29 km/h and humidity at 62 percent. The cloudy atmosphere can help the seamers dominate the game.

For Melbourne Stars, Daniel Worrall stands at first place with ten wickets under their belt. He is followed by John Hastings at second place with eight wickets. Betting Tip

Match Prediction for PS vs MS

The table-toppers Perth Scorchers will go up against Melbourne Stars in the 27th match of the Big Bash League 2021. The tournament was scheduled to be played on December 30. However, the authorities were forced to postpone the game minutes before the commencement of the match due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Stars’ camp.

Perth Scorchers are currently the best team in the T20 extravaganza. They have won as many as nine games while two games didn’t go as per the plan for the runner-up. Scorchers are coming into the Tuesday game after thrashing defending champions Sydney Sixers by five wickets.

Ashton Turner was the standout performer for the table-toppers against Sixers as he played a sublime knock of 69 runs. Scorchers will hope to continue the winning spree on Tuesday as well to solidify their position as the top of the table.

Melbourne Stars, on the other hand, need to pull their socks up. The franchise should come up with better plans and strategies to keep their playoff hopes alive. Stars are reeling at the second-last place in the points table after featuring in as many as nine league games.

Stars have won just from games while losing as many as five matches. One of the main reasons behind the team’s poor performance is their many key players testing positive for virus.

The team made a comeback in the league in their last match as they defeated Adelaide Strikers by five wickets. Joe Clarke was the wrecker-in-chief for the Stars as he slammed 83 runs to help his team chase a total of 139 runs.

It is important for the team to continue the momentum and win a few of their upcoming matches to ensure a place in the top five. We predict Perth Scorchers to win the match and secure their tenth victory in the competition.

Toss Winner

The online odds suggest that both Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers have an equal chance of winning the toss on Tuesday. The toss can play an important role during the BBL game as the team batting second has enjoyed more success.

Batting becomes easy in the second innings while seamers receive assistance from the surface early in the game. Also, a total of five T20 games have been hosted at the Simonds Stadium so far. From five matches, four are won by the team chasing the total.

Overall Stats

Adelaide Strikers have a better success record against Melbourne Stars in the history of the Big Bash League. Strikers have secured victory seven times while Stars could win six matches. In terms of average runs scored, Stars leapfrog Strikers.

Adelaide Strikers’ average reads 144.4 while their highest and lowest total is 187 and 68 runs respectively. For Melbourne Stars, the average is 151.3. The maximum and minimum runs scored by the team against Hurricanes are 179 and 91 respectively.

Most Runs

Marcus Stoinis enjoys massive success against Adelaide Strikers. The Melbourne Stars’ batter has a whopping 214 runs to his name. However, the all-rounder won’t be taking part in the Monday match as he tested positive for coronavirus.

He is followed by Glenn Maxwell in second place with 223 runs to his credit. Just like Stoinis, Maxwell has also tested positive. Stars’ will be without the services of their skipper on Monday.

For Adelaide Strikers, Jonathan Wells is the highest run-getter against Melbourne Stars with 222 runs. Strikers’ second-highest run-scorer Alex Carey is not available due to Ashes 2021-22. He has scored 189 runs against the Stars.

For Adelaide Strikers, Ben Laughlin has picked up the most number of wickets i.e 11. However, the bowler is unlikely to feature in the playing XI on Monday. At the second number, they have Adam Zampa with nine wickets.

Betting Tip

Match Prediction for MS vs AS

Adelaide Strikers will face Melbourne Stars for the first time in the history of the T20 Championship. The first game between the two sides was called off due to Covid-19 scar. Cricket Australia will be rescheduling the game to a later date.

Overall, Melbourne Stars have featured in a total of eight matches so far. They have won three games while their five matches were washed out due to rain. Stars are currently languishing as the wooden-spooners with just ten points to their name.

So far, Stars’ two games against Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers respectively have been postponed due to Covid-19. Their last full match in BBL 11 came against Melbourne Renegades.

Renegades were the better team between the two as they secured a victory by five wickets. Stars could score only 126 runs while batting in the first innings. Travis Dean was the highest run-getter with 32 runs. The team will hope for a much better batting performance on Monday.

Melbourne Stars’ bowlers didn’t have much to defend in the second innings as Renegades easily completed the score within 18 overs. Aaron Finch was the top scorer as he smashed a well-deserved fifty. For Stars’ Tom O Connell was the highest wicket-taker with two wickets to his name.

Stars have fewer chances of winning the Monday match as they will be without the services of many of their main players including Marcus Stoinis and skipper Glenn Maxwell. Thus, there is no doubt that Adelaide Strikers will start the game as favorites.

Talking about the overall performance by the Strikers in the tournament, the franchise has struggled so far. They have failed to make an impact and are in serious trouble in the tournament.

Adelaide have won just two of their nine league matches and have collected 13 points. The team broke their losing streak of five games in their last legal match as they defeated Hobart Hurricanes by seven wickets.

It was an excellent bowling performance by the team that won the game. Hurricanes were restricted at 126 runs in their allotted 20 overs as skipper Peter Siddle picked up a five-wicket haul.

The batters didn’t face any difficulty in completing the target as they won in 15.1 overs only by seven wickets. The opening batter Matthew Short was the star for the team with the willow. The 26-year-old hammered 72 runs in 44 balls. His knock was laced with four boundaries and five maximums as he helped his team in an easy run chase.

Adelaide will now hope to continue the winning momentum as they take on a depleted Melbourne Stars on Monday. We predict Strikers to win the match and climb up the points table.

Toss Winner

The online odds suggest that any of the two teams can outshine the other in terms of toss. The coin can flip in the favor of either Melbourne Stars or Adelaide Strikers. Notably, the toss will play a crucial role in deciding the result of the match.

The skipper winning the toss is likely to bowl first as the surface at the Melbourne Cricket Ground is likely to extend some support to the seamers in the early half of the match.

Batting First

While batting first, Adelaide Strikers have an upper hand over Melbourne Stars. They have won four matches which is one more as compared to the Stars while batting in the first innings.

Stars average against Adelaide Strikers is 161.5.1 while the latter records an average of 152.6. In terms of the highest total recorded against each other, Adelaide leads the charts. They once posted 187 runs while the maximum runs scored by Stars are 179.

Match Prediction for HB vs ST

Hobart Hurricanes will square off against Sydney Thunder in the 44th match of the Big Bash League. This will be the first time that the two teams will go up against each other in the T20 Championship. Hurricanes have done a decent job in the tournament, winning five and losing as many in the tournament.

With 20 points from ten league matches, Hobart are fourth in the points table. The team broke their two-match losing streak in their most recent game as they thrashed Brisbane Heat by eight wickets.

It was a fine bowling performance from Hurricanes that won them their fifth match. Bowling in the first innings, the franchise was successful in restricting Brisbane to a score of 144 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Lachlan Pfeffer was the wrecker-in-chief for Brisbane as he slammed 69 runs off 51 balls. Meanwhile, it was a combined effort by the Hurricanes bowlers as they were disciplined in their approach.

Sandeep Lamichhane and Mitchell Owen picked up two wickets each while Tim David, Thomas Rogers, and Riley Meredith had one each to their name. Chasing the total, Hobart batters looked quite comfortable.

They completed the target within 17.2 overs with Ben McDermott playing a sensational knock of 93 runs off 61 deliveries. His knock was laced with ten boundaries and two maximums at a strike rate of 152.46.

Though Hobart scripted a win in their last match, the team needs to put extra effort with the bat. They should improve their batting to increase their chances of lifting the cup.

Sydney Thunder, on the other hand, have been sensational in the T20 extravaganza so far. The team is undefeated since their last five league matches. Thunder are currently second on the ladder with seven victories and three losses.

Thunder played their last game against Melbourne Renegades and registered a mammoth victory by 129 runs. Batting in the first innings, the all-rounder Daniel Sams wreaked havoc with the willow. The middle-order batter hammered not out 98 runs in just 44 balls to take the team’s total to a whopping 209 runs.

Chasing the score, Melbourne Renegades had no chance as they collapsed at just 80 runs within 14.2 overs. Mohammad Hasnain picked the most wickets as he returned with a three-wicket haul. Gurinder Sandhu and Tanveer Sangha also came up with wickets each.

Heading into the Monday match, Sydney Thunder will hope for another comprehensive performance to record a victory. We predict Thunder to continue the winning streak by winning the fixture against Hobart Hurricanes.

Betting Tip

Match Prediction for BH vs HB

Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes will aim to make a comeback to the winning ways as they clash with each other in the 41st match of the Big Bash League 2021-22. Both the teams are heading into the Saturday encounter at The Gabba in Brisbane after losing their respective last matches in the tournament.

Brisbane Heat have lost a lot of their main players to Covid-19. As many as 12 players from the team have tested positive for the virus. The management has successfully built a new team for the rest of the tournament. However, the new players failed to make a mark in their first match in BBL 11.

Brisbane were up against Melbourne Renegades in their last match. The match saw a completely new Brisbane Heat team taking the field. Led by Tom Cooper, the franchise failed to make an impact as they ended up losing the match by five wickets.

Put to bat first, Heat delivered a disappointing batting performance as they ended up with only 128 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Jake Lehmann was the only positive for the team as he hammered 65 runs. Chasing the total, Renegades won within 15 overs.

Coming to play on Saturday, the franchise will hope to find their winning rhythm back to keep their chances of making it to the second stage of the tournament alive. Overall, Brisbane have lost six while winning three games. They are occupying sixth place in the standings with 14 points to their name.

Hobart Hurricanes, on the other hand, have done slightly better than Brisbane Heat in the T20 Championship. Hurricanes have won four out of nine league matches to sit at fourth place with 17 points under their belt.

After a poor start, Hurricanes made a comeback towards the end of the first half by winning three consecutive matches. However, the team again seems to have lost their plot as they lost their last two matches to Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers by 14 runs and seven wickets respectively.

In both the matches, batting has been the sore point for the team. Playing the Saturday encounter, Hurricanes will hope for the batters to step up and take responsibility to help the team cause a turnaround.

Though Brisbane Heat outclassed Hobart Hurricanes in their previous game during BBL 11, Hurricanes are the favorites to win the Saturday match. We predict Hobart Hurricanes to win the match against Brisbane and consolidate their position in the top four in the points table.

Toss Winner

Both Tom Cooper and Matthew Wade have an equal chance of winning the toss. The toss can play an important role in deciding the fate of the match. The skipper winning the toss should opt to bat first.

It is believed that the pitch in The Gabba gets slower and tough for batting as the match progresses. Thus, the team winning the toss between Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes will opt to bat first.

Betting Tip

Match Prediction for MR vs ST

The cricket fans can expect a fierce cricketing battle on Saturday as Melbourne Renegades will lock horns with Sydney Thunder. Both the teams have picked pace in the second half of the tournament and thus will be laced with confidence and momentum.

After losing their five games on the trot, Melbourne have shown signs of excellence in their last two matches. Renegades outclassed a depleted Melbourne Stars side by five wickets. The team restricted Stars to a poor score of 126 and then completed the target within 18 overs.

Renegades followed it up with another scintillating win over Brisbane Heat by five wickets. Brisbane Heat could score only 128 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Renegades chased the target within 15 overs to record a big victory. Needless to say that the bowlers are the reason behind the team’s success in the competition.

From three victories and five losses, Renegades have collated 15 points. They are occupying fifth place in the points table. Though Renegades have been good in the past two matches, one can’t ignore the fact that Stars and Heat weren’t playing with their full strength.

Both Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and thus are missing a lot of key players from their squad. Thus, Melbourne Renegades will have to do something extraordinary to continue their winning streak on Saturday against Sydney Thunder.

Talking about Sydney Thunder, the team is in phenomenal form in the T20 League. Thunder are currently third in the points table with 22 points under their belt. Sydney won six games while losing just three matches.

Thunder have been brilliant in their last four games and thus will be extremely high on confidence. They are the only team to dismiss Perth Scorchers twice in BBL 11. Thunder’s last victory in the competition came against table-toppers Perth Scorchers.

On the back of a four-wicket haul by Gurinder Sandhu, Sydney were successful in restricting Scorchers to a below-average total of 133 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Scoring 138 wasn’t tough for Chris Green’s side as they chased the score with six balls to spare while losing just four wickets.

Looking at the previous performance and the squad, one can easily say that Sydney Thunder will have an upper hand over Melbourne Renegades. We predict Thunder to win their seventh match of the T20 Championship on Saturday.

Toss Winner

Any of the two teams between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder can win the toss. The team winning the toss should opt to bat first as the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne slows down as the match progresses.

Batting becomes difficult in the second innings. Thus, the teams should aim to score in the range of 160 to 170 runs while batting first

Batting First

Melbourne Renegades has enjoyed more success while batting first. The team has won six times while batting in the first innings. Also, the team’s average shoots up to 156.8. The maximum and minimum runs scored by the team are 189 and 104 runs respectively.

For Perth Scorchers, it is Mitchell Marsh who has scored the most runs as he has 259 runs under his belt. The all-rounder is likely to take the field on Tuesday and produce another stunning knock to take his team to victory. Marsh is followed by Cameron Bancroft at second place with 243 runs.

Most Wickets

Jason Behrendorff has picked a lot of wickets for Perth Scorchers against Sydney Thunder. The seamer will again be eager to play against his favorite opposition in BBL to once again shine with the ball. He is followed by Brad Hogg, Andrew Tye, and Jhye Richardson at the second, third and fourth place respectively.

Sydney Thunder bowlers, on the other hand, haven’t done much on the 22-yard pitch against Perth Scorchers. Chris Green is the highest wicket-taker for the team with seven wickets. He is followed by Nathan McAndrew at second place with six wickets.

Betting Tip

Match Prediction for PS vs ST

Perth Scorchers will go up against Sydney Thunder for the second time in BBL 2021-22. The first clash between the two sides saw Thunder causing a massive upset in the tournament. The franchise did something that the other teams have failed to do so far.

The team ended the six-match winning streak of the favorites Perth Scorchers by handing them a 34-run loss. Perth were unbeatable until they met Sydney Thunder. The match between the two sides commenced with skipper Ashton Turner winning the toss and opting to bowl first.

Thunder displayed a brilliant batting performance as they posted a massive 200 runs on the scoreboard. Sam Billings was the star for the team as he slammed 67 runs in just 35 deliveries. Needless to say that Scorchers bowlers were hammered all over the park with all the bowlers conceding runs at an economy of more than seven.

Chasing the total, Perth failed to live up to their reputation. The team looked ordinary with the willow and thus ended up losing the match by 34 runs. Colin Munro tried to keep the team alive by hammering not out 64 runs.

However, the batter didn’t receive any support from other players. Nathan McAndrew was the highest wicket-taker for Thunder with three wickets. Playing the Thursday encounter, Perth Scorchers will aim to put their best foot forward and take revenge for their loss.

Overall, Scorchers have performed much better than Sydney Thunder. The runner-up is currently topping the points table with 29 points to their name. They have won eight games while losing just one match.

Sydney Thunder, on the other hand, are third in the standings with 19 points. The team has won five matches while losing three games. Thunder didn’t start on a good note in the tournament but they have picked the pace. The team is doing exceptionally well in their recent games.

They are on a three-match winning streak. We predict Thunder to continue the momentum and secure a victory against Scorchers for the second time in the 2021-22 edition of BBL.

Toss Winner

The online odds suggest that any of the two teams can outshine the other in terms of toss. The coin can flip in the favor of either Sydney Thunder or Perth Scorchers. Notably, the toss will play a crucial role in deciding the result of the match.

The skipper winning the toss is likely to bat first as Carrara Oval’s pitch becomes slower and slower as the game progresses. Batting will become difficult for the team batting second on Thursday.

Batting First

Sydney Thunder are ahead of Perth Scorchers if we talk about the batting first. Thunder have four wins under his belt while batting in the first innings. The average runs scored by the team are 152.3 while their highest and lowest total is 200 and 99 runs respectively. Perth Scorchers, on the other hand, enjoy an average of 161.5 with the highest and lowest score as 185 and 99 runs respectively.

Simonds Stadium, Pitch Report

Simonds Stadium hasn’t hosted a lot of BBL games, thus, both Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades will be unaware of the playing conditions and behavior of the pitch.

A full game of cricket is unlikely between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades on Thursday. Bad weather conditions can interrupt the game in regular intervals or can also cause a complete washout.

The forecast for Thursday, January 05 suggests Thunderstorms. The precipitation chances are 80 percent with the temperature ranging from 19 degrees celsius to 25 degrees celsius. The wind speed and humidity are expected to be around 24 km/h and 77 percent.

Betting Tip

Match Prediction for MR vs BH

There is a threat looming over Melbourne Renegades vs Brisbane Heat clash, scheduled for January 06, Thursday at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong. Brisbane Heat were dealt with a massive blow on Wednesday as their 12 players returned a positive result for coronavirus. A member of the coaching staff has also tested positive for the virus.

The Covid-19 scar in the camp resulted in the authorities postponing the Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers clash for an indefinite time. Despite the hurdles, Cricket Australia have decided to go ahead with the tournament.

Brisbane will be singing the local players in their squad to field a playing XI for the rest of the tournament. The franchise is expected to fly out from the Gold Coast with the rest of their staff and players on Thursday morning.

Overall, the team is struggling in the tournament. Brisbane have failed to make an impact as they are reeling at seventh place in the points table. The team has won just three from their eight league matches so far. Also, the team is yet to reveal the name of the players who have been hit by the virus.

Melbourne Renegades, on the other hand, reposted one Covid-19 case on Wednesday. The absence of one player is unlikely to cause a lot of damage to the team. Renegades were experiencing a horrific performance in BBL 11.

However, they finally returned back to form in their last match against a deleted Melbourne Stars team. Renegades secured a five-wicket victory by successfully chasing 127 runs within 18 overs. The win would have boosted the team’s confidence.

Playing against a weaker Brisbane Heat side, Renegades are likely to continue their winning streak. They are currently seventh in the points table with 11 points from two victories and five losses.

We predict Melbourne Renegades to win the Thursday match as Brisbane Heat will be missing a lot of their key players due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Toss Winner

The online odds suggest that both Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades have an equal chance of winning the toss on Thursday. The toss can play an important role during the 37th BBL game as the team batting second has enjoyed more success.

Batting becomes easy in the second innings while seamers receive assistance from the surface early in the game. Also, a total of four T20 games have been hosted at the Simonds Stadium so far. From four matches, three are won by the team chasing the total.
