The 1st Test was more than just a dull draw. There were moments of brilliance from both sides but the wicket was so flat that the teams couldn’t get the result in their favour. However, the teams will be delighted with their performance. Sri Lanka were down and out on the first day itself and were bowled out for 169, thanks to some hostile bowling by Jason Holder and Kemar Roach. However, an inspirational Suranga Lakmal led Sri Lanka’s fightback and restricted West Indies to 271. West Indies will rue the fact that a lot of their batsmen threw their wicket after getting off to a decent start. Nevertheless, they had a handy 102 run lead with them.

Pathum Nissanka celebrated his debut with a century while Lahiru Thirimanne, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella and Oshada Fernando fetched themselves half-centuries as Sri Lanka posted a mammoth 446 in their second inning. West Indies needed to bat out 100 overs to survive which they did with ease on a flat wicket. Nkrumah Bonner was the star of the innings and played a solid hand of 113. Both teams were under pressure at certain times but showed great character to bounce back in the game.

Going into the next game, a lot will depend on the conditions. If the conditions are similar to what we saw in the 1st game, we could well be in for another draw. However, if it has something in it for the bowlers, West Indies will start as favourites as they have a far more lethal bowling attack than the visitors. Also, Sri Lanka of late has been very inconsistent and we have doubts about them replicating their performance in the next game.

Pitch Report

The surface in the first game had something in it for the bowlers on the first day but it flattened out as the game progressed. The next game could see the curators making it a little more spicy to ensure that the match has a winner.

West Indies

Probable XI: Kraigg Brathwaite (c), John Campbell, Nkrumah Bonner, Kyle Mayers, Jermaine Blackwood, Jason Holder, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Alzarri Joseph, Rahkeem Cornwall, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel

Sri Lanka

Predicted XI: Dimuth Karunaratne (c), Lahiru Thirimanne, Oshada Fernando, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva, Pathum Nissanka, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Suranga Lakmal, Dushmantha Chameera, Vishwa Fernando, Lasith Embuldeniya

Probable Top Performers

Nkrumah Bonner – After missing out on two centuries in Bangladesh, Bonner finally reached the three figure mark in the 1st Test against Sri Lanka. West Indies were in some trouble and needed someone to bat out the 5th day and Bonner raised to the occasion. He’s looked a terrific player in his short career and can be backed to perform well in the next game as well.

Lahiru Thirimanne –  The conditions on Day 1 of the 1st Test were challenging for the batsmen but Thirimanne battled it out and fetched himself a solid half century. He played another good knock in the second inning. He’s a batsmen that likes to bat for long hours and is temperamentally very strong. He will look to replicate his success in the next game as well.

Kemar Roach – Roach was at his brutal best in the previous game. He rushed the Sri Lankan batsmen with his extra pace. If the conditions are feasible for pace bowling,  Roach will be treat a to watch.

But for this particular game, we strongly believe that both teams will be satisfied with their performance in the previous game but we have few concerns about the consistency of Sri Lanka. Also, the conditions are going to play a big role. If the surface has something in it for the bowlers, West Indies will be red hot favourites as they have a quality bowling attack. In case of a dull wicket, we could be in for another draw. The online cricket betting odds are also in favour of West Indies.

Match Details

The first Test between West Indies and Sri Lanka is going to be played at the Sir Vivan Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua and is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 AM local time (7:30 PM IST)

Preview

After dominating Sri Lanka in the limited over format, West Indies will look to continue their juggernaut in the Test series as well. However, this is a format that Sri Lanka will prefer a little more. The visitors, though, hasn’t won a  Test match in its previous four series. Sri Lanka’s area of concern will be lack of a genuine wicket taker. Also, they’ll be without the services of the Kusal Perera and Angelo Matthews. Even then, the batting looks decent with Dimuth Karunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Niroshan Dickwella at their disposal.

For West Indies, they pulled off a magnificent win against Bangladesh in Bangladesh in their previous series. Also, they’ll be very happy that they’re playing their matches at the Sir Vivian Richard Stadium, a ground where they have defeated teams like England, Bangladesh and New Zealand. The batting will depend on Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Nkrumah Bonner, Jermaine Blackwood, John Campbell and Kyle Mayers. Bonner and Mayers were the top performers for the hosts against Bangladesh. The bowling also looks pretty decent for the conditions.

Pitch Report

The surface is expected to have some extra pace and may get the batsmen hopping in the first session or two. It’ll get better as the game progresses.

West Indies

Probable XI: Kraigg Brathwaite (c), John Campbell, Darren Bravo, Nkrumah Bonner, Kyle Mayers, Jermaine Blackwood, Jason Holder, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Rahkeem Cornwall, Alzarri Joseph, Shannon Gabriel

Sri Lanka

Predicted XI: Lahiru Thirimanne, Dimuth Karunaratne (C), Oshada Fernando, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Ramesh Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Embuldeniya, Vishwa Fernando

Probable Top Performers

Kraigg Brathwaite – Among all, Brathwaite is the most technically sound West Indian batsmen. He’s coming back from some fine performances in the longer format. In his previous practice game, Brathwaite stroked a solid 95. He batted well against Bangladesh as well and had scores of 76 and 47 in the two tests respectively.

Nkrumah Bonner – Bonner was the star of West Indies’ scintillating victory in Bangladesh. He played a solid knock of 86 in the first Test and backed it up with another 90 in the following game. He’ll be disappointed that he missed out on two well deserved hundreds and will look to achieve the feat against Sri Lanka.

Dimuth Karunaratne – From Sri Lanka, we’ll back Karunaratne to start well. He has a good record in Tests and averages over 36 in 68 games, including 10 hundreds. He stroked a century in his last Test innings, against South Africa, before getting injured.

Our Betting Tips

The lack of a genuine wicket taker dents Sri Lanka’s chances of winning the game. West Indies, on the other hand, looks a better all round team with quality in their batting and bowling department. The online cricket betting odds are also in favour of the hosts.

Predicted Winners

West Indies are expected to win this game.

West Indies vs Sri Lanka- 3rd ODI, Preview: Best Betting Odds and Winner Prediction

Match Details

The 3rd match of the ODI series between West Indies and Sri Lanka will take place at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua at 9:30 AM local time (7:00 PM IST)

The T20I series between West Indies and Sri Lanka was evenly fought but the hosts have decimated the Asian Islanders in the ODI series. The visitors have been very poor, to say the least. Their batsmen have led them down, and with spinners not getting any help from the wicket, their bowling has also looked toothless. Danushka Gunathilaka has batted well but other batsmen have been very disappointing. Yes, Chandimal got some runs in the last match but to win a series against a strong opposition, all your players need to contribute which has not been the case with Sri Lanka.

The hosts, on the other hand, have been scintillating. They’ve outplayed Sri Lanka in every department. Never, ever there was any doubt about the quality in their team. It’s just that they failed to deliver consistent performances. However, in this series, they’ve done that and results have fallen in their place. The openers, Shai Hope and Evin Lewis are in red hot form. They added 143 runs for the opening wicket in the first ODI and backed it up with a 192 run partnership in the next game. Darren Bravo and Nicolas Pooran have also got some decent batting practice. If they can play the way they are, Sri Lanka will find it very hard to stop West Indies

Pitch Report

The wicket is slightly on the slower side but it’s a very good wicket to bat.

West Indies

Probable XI: Shai Hope (wk), Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Darren Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard (c), Jason Holder, Fabian Allen, Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein

Sri Lanka

Probable XI: Danushka Gunathilaka, Dimuth Karunaratne (c), Pathum Nissanka, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Oshada Fernando, Ashen Bandara, Thisara Perera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Lakshan Sandakan, Nuwan Pradeep

Probable Top Performers

Shai Hope – Shai Hope is in red hot form in the series. He stroked a hundred in the first game and backed it up with a top notch 84 in the next match. He’ll be disappointed that he missed out on back to back hundreds and will be eager to touch the three figure mark in the next game

Evin Lewis – Lewis has been equally good as Hope. He’s fresh from a magnificent hundred in the last match and will look to play another solid knock.

Danushka Gunathilaka – Gunathilaka has played well throughout the tour. He was Sri Lanka’s best batsmen in the T20I series and stroked a two fifties in first two ODIs. He needs to play another good knock if Sri Lanka has to compete in the match.

Our Betting Tips

The kind of form West Indies are in, Sri Lanka would find it hard to stop their juggernaut. Moreover, their batting has been very vulnerable. The online cricket betting odds are also in favour of West Indies.

Predicted Winners

West Indies are expected to win this game.

West Indies delivered a complete performance in the 1st ODI and will be very confident going in to this match. Their bowlers were right on the money and restricted Sri Lanka to below par 232 before chasing it down without breaking a sweat.

Shai Hope stroked a magnificent century, Evin Lewis and Darren Bravo batted well to crush Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. There is no doubt about the quality of West Indies team but the problem, over the years, has been their consistency. It’ll be a challenge for them to match their performance. But if they do so, it will be very difficult for Sri Lanka to stop them.

Sri Lankan batting has failed throughout the series. In the 1st match they got off to a solid start yet they could only manage 232 runs in their 50 overs. They need to work on their batting else they’ll keep on facing these humiliating losses. Their spinners were their main weapons in the T20I series but the surface at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium won’t turn much which makes Sri Lanka’s bowling look bleak.

Pitch Report

The wicket is slightly on the slower side but it’s a very good wicket to bat.

Probable Top Performers

Shai Hope – He’s the best West Indian batsmen and is coming back from a scintillating hundred in the 1st ODI. He’s good against the pacers, good against the spinners and is expected to perform well.

Keiron Pollard – Pollard will be very handy with his all round skills. He can be destructive in the final overs and can bowl some crucial overs as well

Danushka Gunathilaka – Gunathilaka has played well throughout the tour. He was Sri Lanka’s best batsmen in the T20I series and stroked a 50 in the 1st ODI as well. He needs to have a good game if Sri Lanka have to challenge the West Indies

Our Betting Tips

Sri Lanka’s batting has been very inconsistent. Also, their main weapon in the bowling department, their spinners won’t get much help from the wicket which makes their bowling look weak.

Predicted Winners

West Indies are expected to win this game.

West Indies vs Sri Lanka: 1st ODI – Best Betting Odds and Match Winner Prediction

Match Details

After a close fought T20 series, West Indies and Sri Lanka gear up for a 50 over battle. The series will kick off on March 10 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua at 9:30 AM local time (7:00 PM IST)

Preview

Even though West Indies won the T20I series, there are a lot of concerns about their form. The batting was a big let as the Sri Lankan spinners chocked the West Indian batsmen for runs. In a 50 over format, the challenge will be bigger and West Indies batsmen need to find a way out of this spin web. Shai Hope and Kyle Mayers will be back in the team and that’s a big respite as both of them are good against the spinners.

Sri Lanka hasn’t played an ODI series for a while and would want to hit their strides straight away. There is a lot more stability in the Sri Lankan team with players like Dimuth Karunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Matthews, Oshada Fernando etc. The 50 over format does give Sri Lanka a slight edge but we have seen in the T20I series that they’re prone to collapse and West Indies certainly has a bowling unit to trigger that. All in all, it’s a match between two flawed teams but we think that the longer format gives Sri Lanka a minor advantage.

Pitch Report :

The Sir Vivian Richard Stadium is known to have some extra pace in the wicket. The new ball can be tricky but once you’re set, the surface should be very easy to bat.

Average 1st inning score

A total of 22 ODI’s are played on this ground and the average 1st inning score is 231

West Indies vs Sri Lanka probable XI

West Indies

Probable XI: Shai Hope Evin Lewis, Darren Bravo, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Kieron Pollard (c), Jason Holder,Kyle Mayers, Fabian Allen, Alzarri Joseph, Kevin Sinclair, Romario Shepherd

Sri Lanka

Probable XI: Danushka Gunathilaka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews (c), Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Dasun Shanaka, Thisara Perera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Akila Dananjaya, Lakshan Sandakan, Dushmantha Chameera

Probable Top performers

Shai Hope – Shai Hope is arguably the best West Indian batsmen in this team. The Sri Lankan spinners wreaked havoc in the T20I series and Hope will bring a lot of stability in the batting order. He was West Indies’ highest run-getter with 238 runs in 3 games in their previous series against Sri Lanka. We expect him to start well

Dimuth Karunaratne – Karunaratne has been the mainstay of this Sri Lanka batting. He stroked a magnificent hundred against South Africa in Johannesburg before getting injured which ruled him out of the series against England. He’ll look to start from where he left.

Wanindu Hasaranga – West Indian batsmen have looked clueless against Wanindu Hasaranga. He picked up 8 wickets in the 3 T20Is and is expected to continue his good run

Our Betting Tips:

We think that the longer format gives Sri Lanka a slight advantage. They have a much more stable batting line up and their spinners will be hard to tackle for the West Indians

Predicted Winners

West Indies are expected to win this match.
