BBL 2021-22: Playing XI From Fourth Week of BBL
BBL has now entered the 5th week of the tournament. Every team is making the best of their efforts to finalize their name for the semi-finals. Crictips.com is proactively analyzing and giving its viewers a comprehensive look at the performance of every team and their playing XI.
Currently, Perth Scorchers are leading the BBL point table with 25 points. They have played 8 matches, lost 1, and won 7 of their fixtures. Two points below are Sydney Sixers with 23 points followed by Sydney Thunder with 19 points. Opening Partnership – Fourth Week in BBL
1) Ben McDermott
In the third week of BBL, Ben McDermott created history and became the only player in BBL to hit two consecutive centuries. He has turned out to be an asset for Hobert Hurricanes. McDermott’s first century came on Monday in a game against Adelaide Strikers. He helped Hurricanes to chase a score of 175 runs and win the game in just 18.3 overs by scoring 110 runs in 60 balls. McDermott continued his form on Wednesday as well against Melbourne Renegades. He scored 127 runs on 65 balls with a strike rate of 195.38. His innings included 9 sixes and 9 fours.
2) Joe Clarke
Melbourne Stars’ wicket-keeper has made it to the list by scoring a brilliant knock of 85 runs in 44 bowls. His exceptional performance included 7 fours and 5 sixes with a strike rate of 193.18. Clarke has been consistently scoring for the team for the past few weeks. This week he helped Melbourne Stars to mark a win against Brisbane Heat. Clarke didn’t get any support from his fellow batsman except Hilton Cartwright. They both took the responsibility to score a comfortable score of 200 runs in 20 overs and took the pressure off the bowling attack.
3) Matt Renshaw
Matt Renshaw from Adelaide Striker has made it to number 3 in the best Playing XI from last week. His brilliant performance on Monday against Hobart Hurricanes was overshadowed by an exceptional performance by Ben McDermott. Renshaw scored 63 runs in 42 balls with a strike rate of 153.66. He turned to be a good strike rotate for the team. However, except Renshaw, no other player was able to hold the game from Adelaide Strikers. Middle Order Line Up – Fourth Week in BBL
4) Jason Sangha
A new name that has emerged as a brilliant star in BBL is Jason Sangha. The 22-year-old allrounder made his appearance in two matches last week. Sangha played brilliantly in both matches. On Tuesday against Perth Scorchers, Sangha scored 56 runs on 46 balls with a strike rate of 121.74. He showed his exceptional performance on Friday in a fixture against Adelaide Strikers. Sangha scored 91 runs on 55 balls with a strike rate of 165.45. The young batter helped Sydney thunders to a win in both the matches. It is expected that Sangha will get more playtime in the upcoming fixtures and that in turn will improve his game.
5) Hilton Cartwright
Hilton Cartwright played a brilliant knock on Monday with Joe Clarke against Brisbane Heat. Cartwright scored 79 runs in 44 balls with a strike rate of 179.55. It was amazing to see him hitting some hard knocks which directly went out of the ground. Cartwright’s inning included only 1 four but at the same, he hit 8 sixes and helped his team to score 200 runs and win the game. Cartwright is expected to make more appearances in the upcoming fixtures of Melbourne Stars. This will be a piece of good news for stars as they need some crucial points to make it to the semi-finals.
6) Sam Billings
Sam Billings has made it to the list with his consistent performance as a middle-order batsman. His knock with Jason Sangha against Perth Scorchers on Tuesday made it to the headlines. Billings scored 67 runs on 35 balls with a strike rate of 191.43. His innings included 10 fours and 2 sixes. The opening pair of Sydney Sixers were sent back to the pavilion at a very early stage. It was Jason Sangha and Sam Billings who handled the scorecard for the team. Sixers are currently at the 2nd position on the point table and now they will have to win all the upcoming fixtures to make it to number one.
7) Sean Abbott
Another Sydney Sixers player has made it to the list with his heroic innings against Brisbane Heat on Tuesday. Sean Abbott turned to be the match-winner for Sydney Sixers. At first, he took a brilliant catch with one hand, and then he played a brilliant inning after coming down at number 7. Brisbane Heat was all out for 105 and Sydney Sixers were confident to chase the small score. Unfortunatly, their whole batting lineup was back to the pavilion at a very early stage of the game. It was Sean Abbott who helped his team to bounce back at the late stage of the game. He proved himself to be a crucial all-rounder for the team.
Bowling Attack – Fourth Week in BBL
8) Jason Behrendorff
Jason Behrendroff from Perth Scorchers made his presence felt last Sunday when he took 2 wickets by bowling 4 overs. His economy rate turned out 4.75. and he took 2 wickets. Behrendorff turned out to be a crucial bowler for his team as he controlled the run rate of the opposition. In another fixture of Perth Scorchers Behrendorff played a good inning as an opening bowler. His economy rate was not as good as the previous match but he did take a wicket supported by Scorchers.
9) Riley Meredith
Riley Meredith is turning out to be a great strength for Hobart Hurricanes. His pace attack and disciplined line and length helped Hurricanes to score a win against Adelaide Strikers on Monday. Meredith was responsible to take 3 wickets and giving away 37 runs in 4 overs. His economy rate was 9.25. However, his second appearance against Melbourne Renegades in the fourth week was not as good as it was expected. 10) Daniel Sams
Daniel Sams has turned out to be an important player for Sydney Thunder in the middle overs. He is the kind of pacer where you can trust to reduce the run-rate of the opposition team. That’s what Sams did in his two appearances in the fourth week of BBL. He played two crucial matches with Thunder and helped them to mark a win in one of them. In the Wednesday fixture against Perth Scorchers, he marked an economy rate of 7.50 and took 1 wicket in 4 overs.
11) Mujeeb Ur Rehman
The Afghani youngster is showing his consistent performance in BBL for Brisbane Heat. Rehman has turned out to be a crucial off-spin attack. On Saturday, Brisbane Heat played against Hobert Hurricanes. Rehman bowled 4 overs and gave away 20 runs and took 3 wickets. His economy rate in the match was 5.00. Rehman with Xavier Barlett made sure that Brisbane Heat end up as winners in the end. Rehman is expected to make more appearances in the upcoming fixtures of the Brisbane Heat and would like to make sure that he continues his performance and have a bright future.
