Sydney Sixers’ veteran all-rounder Dan Christian backs his team to win the tournament for the third time in a row. The defending champions Sydney Sixers are enjoying a dream run in the ongoing 2021-22 edition of the Big Bash League.

The franchise is continuing the winning momentum from the last season and is the favorite to lift the cup once again this year. Everything has worked in the favor of the franchise and they are churning out performances after performances in the tournament.

Sydney Sixers kickstarted their campaign in the T20 extravaganza with a stunning victory over Melbourne Stars by 152 runs. Sixers scored a massive score of 213 runs in their allotted 20 overs and were successful in stopping the opposition at a paltry total of 61 runs.

The franchise continued its fine run against Hobart Hurricanes too as it defended 144 runs to secure a 14-run victory. However, Hobart got better off the Sixers in the very next match as they suffered their first loss of the season.

The defeat didn’t affect the defending champions much and they made a splendid comeback to win their next two games against Melbourne Stars and Adelaide Strikers. With four victories and one loss, the Sixers are occupying second place in the BBL table

Following Sydney’s four-wicket victory over Adelaide Strikers, the veteran all-rounder Dan Christian was involved in an interactive session where he spoke at lengths regarding the various aspects of his team’s performance.

Dan Christian believes that Sydney Sixers are yet to utilize their best potential in the tournament. The all-rounder revealed that the team best is yet to come and they are happy to start the competition on a positive note, a fact that is also starting to show on cricket betting sites in India.

“It probably isn’t too far off the way we played last year as well. We haven’t played anywhere near our best cricket for these first four or five games. But we’re getting over the line.

“And it’s someone different every game who is doing something to get us over the line. It’s got that feeling about it, similar to last year, where we’re not playing our best but we’re still winning,” Dan Christian said.

Christian’s best performance in the tournament for Sydney Sixers came against Adelaide Strikers in their last match. The veteran couldn’t make a difference with the bat as he scored a golden duck.

However, the all-rounder was phenomenal with the bat. Dan picked up three wickets including the likes of Matt Renshaw, Jonathan Wells, and Harry Nielson. The 38-year-old also picked a spectacular catch during the game to dismiss Matthew Short.

We’ve got guys coming in, all the way down the order: Dan Christian

Meanwhile, Sydney Sixers are also facing serious injury concerns. Chris Jordan played his final Big Bash League game against Adelaide Strikers while Tom Curran has been ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury.

The decorated spinner Steve O’Keefe will also be missing on a few days owing to his latest calf injury. When Dan was questioned the same, the veteran argued that Sydney Sixers have great depth in their squad and there are many players waiting in the team for an opportunity.

“We’ve got guys coming in, all the way down the order, who either have the experience – or they have the talent but haven’t had that opportunity yet,” Christian said.

Christian concluded the interaction by elaborating his views on young Hayden Kerr. The 38-year-old was all praises for the youngster who slammed a big maximum on his second ball to take the Sydney Sixers team home against Adelaide Strikers.

“Kerry’s been fantastic for us this year. Been great with the ball. That’s his first chance with the bat and he’s come out and hit a six to win the game. It might be a bit of a surprise to you guys.

“It’s not really a surprise to us from what we see at training and what we’ve seen in practice games. There’s just real confidence among the group and confidence in the guy we’re standing next to out on the field,” the all-rounder signed off.
