Twitter Reactions: Perth Scorchers Get Off to a Dream Start in BBL 11 Courtesy 6-Run Victory Over Brisbane Heat
The runner-up Perth Scorchers are continuing their winning momentum this season too. Scorchers started their campaign in the 11th season with a bang as they thrashed Brisbane Heat by six runs. This was the second consecutive loss for Brisbane as they lost their opening game to Sydney Thunder by seven wickets.
As the coin flipped in the favor of Ashton Turner, he decided to invite Brisbane to bowl first. The first innings saw Perth losing their first wicket in the form of Colin Munro in the second over only. Following the initial hiccup, Cameron Bancroft and Kurtis Patterson stitched a 68-run stand to bail their team out of the crisis.
Bancroft added 25 runs before losing his wicket to James Bazley while Patterson walked back after scoring a much-needed half-century. In the end, Perth had to satisfy with an average score of 157 runs in 20 overs. BBL points table 2021 – Check the full Big Bash standings here.
Matthew Kelly helps Perth Scorchers secure a victory
Coming to Brisbane Heat bowlers, Cameron Gannon picked two wickets while Xavier Bartlett, Liam Guthrie, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Bazley had one each under their belt.
Chasing 158 wasn’t supposed to be a hard task for Brisbane considering their decorated batting line-up. However, pacer Matthew Kelly bowled one of the best spells of his T20 career to ensure a victory for his team.
Kelly picked up a whopping four wickets while conceding runs at the economy rate of seven to take the Man of the Match award home. Brisbane batters made the task easy for the opposition team by playing recklessly and not showing any intent. Here’s our latest bet365 cricket betting tips and tricks. Read more here.
The batters looked out of form and need to step up at the earliest to ensure good performance by Brisbane Heat in the T20 extravaganza. Sam Heazlett and Xavier Bartlett were the only two players from Brisbane camp who played decently as they scored 34 runs each.

Kurtis Patterson didn't bat last tournament and Matt Kelly didn't get a game, but the forgotten pair produced career-best performances to lead Perth Scorchers to a thrilling six-run win over Brisbane at Optus Stadium tonight. #BBL11https://t.co/drNWl04429 pic.twitter.com/6y9yJk9CBv

Peirson and Lynn at the crease, two players who score considerably slower against spin.
Spinners on at either end – excellent match up planning by Aston Turner and the Perth Scorchers #BBL11
