BCCI Likely to Conduct IPL 2023 Auctions in Mid-December
The auctions for the IPL 2023 are most likely to take place in the middle of December. Though the dates are yet to be finalized, a tentative date of 15 or 16 is expected. The previous year, the teams participated in the mega auctions, hence this year there will be a mini-auction. Each franchise will have a budget of 95 crores which is an increase from the last IPL. In addition to the base amount, if the team releases any player from the squad, that amount will be added too. Teams can also trade or transfer the players. One week prior to the IPL 2023 auctions, the transfer window will be available. Earlier this week, BCCI informed that the IPL will go back to the pre-Covid pattern. This will allow the teams to play 7 games at their home ground and 7 games away.

There were speculations on Ravindra Jadeja parting ways with the Chennai Super Kings franchise in IPL 2023. However, the Chennai Super Kings have denied the transfer request from Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, they themselves are looking to trade Shubman Gill from Gujarat Titans to CSK. Gujarat Titans on the other hand have refused to trade Sai Kishore and Rahul Tewatia.

It is also expected that the inaugural edition of the women’s IPL could start in the upcoming year. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly gave insights on this and mentioned that the preparations were in full swing. “The BCCI is currently working on the much-awaited women’s IPL. We are expecting to start the first season early next year. More details will follow in the due course,” he said.
Furthermore, announcing the U-15 tournament, he continued, “We are glad to introduce a girls U-15 tournament from this season. Women’s cricket has seen phenomenal growth across the world and our national team has been performing well. This new tournament will create a pathway for our girls to play at the international level.”
