Last year, both Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers were inducted into Royal Challengers Bangalore’s hall of fame. In a recent conversation with Robin Uthappa during a chat on the ‘Home of Heroes’ show on JioCinema, he recalled a heartwarming conversation with a fan. During a game in 2012, Chris Gayle had smacked Pune Warriors India’s bowler Rahul Sharma for 5 consecutive sixes. One of those six ended up in the stands hurting the nose of a young fan. She was immediately rushed to the hospital.

RCB is one of the best fanbases I’ve experienced: Chris Gayle
“I went straight to the hospital and saw her with bloody nose and bloody clothes. She was like, ‘why are you sad? Don’t worry, hit more sixes!’ That was so amazing man! She helped me feel better by telling me that even when she’s in pain she wanted me to hit more sixes. It was a touching moment. The next game, every fan had a placard saying, ‘please break my nose’, so I could go visit them in the hospital. RCB is one of the best fanbases I’ve experienced,” Chris Gayle said.
In 2013, Chris Gayle played his best-ever T20 knock. In a game against PWI, he scored 175 runs from 66 balls consisting of 17 sixes and 13 fours. Speaking to Robin Uthappa, he said he was confident that he would have completed his double century only if he wasn’t batting alongside AB de Villiers. In the same game, AB de Villiers scored 31 runs from 8 balls at a strike rate of 387.50. Both Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers have now left the RCB franchise. Over the years the team has learned from their mistakes and has gotten better. However, it is yet to win their maiden IPL trophy.
