Cheteshwar Pujara and Steve Smith to Play Together for Sussex
Many of the big players in world cricket are currently playing IPL, meanwhile, others are resting or preparing for their upcoming games. Amidst all this, Cheteshwar Pujara and Steve Smith are to play together in county cricket. Both players will be representing Team Sussex. Cheteshwar Pujara had a dream run last year with the team and this year too, he is looking solid. The two test batters will be representing their teams in the WTC Finals. Therefore, accessing and understanding the local conditions will be crucial.
Steve Smith earlier this year was signed by Sussex but the player is yet to join the team. “I am excited about joining Sussex for a few games in May and hopefully making a contribution to a successful season. I am particularly looking forward to working with the younger players in the squad and hoping I can provide some guidance to them,” he had said.

Steve Smith is a great influence to have in the team: Cheteshwar Pujara
There is no doubt that Smith is one of the finest test players in the world and Cheteshwar Pujara has expressed his desire to learn from him. Cheteshwar Pujara admitted that he had never previously had the chance to play on the same side as Steve Smith. This, however, will change, as Sussex gets ready to play Worcestershire in a four-day match that begins on Thursday. Not only will Pujara get a chance to learn more about the batting nitty-gritty from Smith, but the Indian batter who also is leading Sussex can also learn about captaincy from the former Australian captain.
“He (Smith) is a great influence to have in the team. The guys will be looking forward to having him in the dressing room and will try and have a chat with him and learn from him. Just to see how he prepares as he has a lot of experience. We are all looking forward to having him here and sharing his experience, as he has a lot of knowledge about the game, and it will be nice to have his input,” Cheteshwar Pujara said. He further added that he was excited to share the dressing room with the Australian batter and acknowledged that they are good friends off the field.
