First, they brought the split captaincy method into action and now they are planning to do the same with the coaching role also. So far, Eoin Morgan is the white-ball skipper and Joe Root was leading the test team.

But now ECB has appointed Ben Stokes as their next test captain along with Brendon McCullum as the head coach of the test team. It is saying the ECB panel, Key, Andrew Strauss (ECB consultant), and Tom Harrison (ECB chief executive officer) have also consulted with Eoin Morgan.

“As a coach, you have to look at the next pathway … there will always be that ‘what’s next? But I’m thoroughly enjoying what I’m doing at the moment. I don’t feel the need to rush off anywhere else. A lot of people think it’s a step up to go into the men’s program. I think it’s just a step across. I’ve been involved with Australia A men’s program a couple of times. I’ve enjoyed my work in there.”

Since 2015 Matthew Mott is with the Australian women’s team as the head coach of the side. The duo of Mott as a coach and Meg Lanning as the captain has worked greatly for Cricket Australia.
