AUS VS ENG: Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia’s Test squad, has stated that he was taken aback when former Prime Minister Scott Morrison joined him in a WhatsApp group whose name was the same as a chat he held with colleagues from his country. Cummins also revealed that he had unintentionally sent a message to Morrison that was intended for his Australian colleagues. After succeeding Tim Paine as Australia’s captain, the paceman was admitted to the WhatsApp group “The Legends.”

It’s interesting to note that he also joined the same WhatsApp group as fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc.

“I just opened up my phone then, and I’ve been added to a WhatsApp group called ‘Legends’ with Scott Morrison and Justin Langer in it. We [already] have a WhatsApp group, Hoff, Starcy, and I called legends. Hope I don’t send anything to the wrong group. I did once. I think it was a stat or a photo or a meme or something that came up and I sent it to the wrong group and I quickly had to delete it. Sorry PM,”

Cummins revealed in the first episode of the second series of the Amazon documentary, The Test

AUS VS ENG: Prior to the New Year’s Test in early January, the squad has made it a practice to stop by Kirribilli House, the prime minister’s Sydney home. Both Anthony Albanese, the incumbent prime minister, and Morrison have embraced this chance.

After Paine was forced to resign due to a texting incident in November 2021. Cummins was named Australia’s 47th Test captain. The 29-year-old has also made history by becoming the first pacer from Australia to lead the Test team full-time. When Aaron Finch opted to leave the format in October of last year, he took over as the team’s ODI captain.

Under Cummins’ direction, the Australian Test team had a fantastic home summer. On home soil, they have won four of five Test matches, with one ending in a draw. Australia is also in a strong position to go to the final. Since they presently hold the top spot in the World Test Championship standings.

Pat Cummins: Australia’s Way Ahead

AUS VS ENG: Now preparing for a four-match Test series against India starting next month. After defeating South Africa 2-0, the Australians are entering the series. India and Australia will play their first Test match on February 9 at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. Last summer, just before the Ashes series, the 29-year-old replaced Paine as captain after the wicketkeeper resigned in the wake of his sexting scandal.

When Australia tours India and England later this year, Cummins will try to maintain his remarkable rate. Cummins has won eight of his last 12 Test matches while serving as captain.
