His thinking has sparked a thought if other players also started doing the same. Earlier, the same condition was happening with test cricket. And at that time, ICC brought the World Test Championship concept. This idea gives stability to the declining test format. But in this process ODI has disappeared somewhere. In most of the bilateral series, boards focus on the T20 and test crickets. For that, the number of ODI games has reduced drastically.

And he would like to prefer the other global T20 leagues. Ben Stokes and Trent Boult are the two most renowned match-winners in the modern-day generation. And their leaves from international cricket will be a huge loss for the fans.

ICC: Kapil Dev Stated His Words On The Dying Formats
In his statement, Kapil Dev mentioned that ICC needs to take care of the management factor. And they need to find a route to treat the game like football. In football, we often see countries that haven’t been playing frequently against each other. Most of the time of the year, players appear only in the big leagues. He also added that ICC has to ensure that ODI and test cricket should survive. And as per Kapil Dev, the increase in the number of leagues will be hampering the international schedules.
“I think it’s fading out. The ICC (International Cricket Council) has a bigger responsibility how to manage this game. It’s going the way as football in Europe. They don’t play against each country. It is once in four years (during the World Cup). Is this what we’re going to have, the World Cup and the rest of the time playing club (T20 franchise) cricket?,”Dev was quoted as saying by The Sydney Morning Herald.
He also added that whether the game shifts to league cricket only. ICC should have to note whether players will be appearing mainly in the big leagues. If this happens then it will cost ODI and test cricket. There should be a limit for domestic leagues. The IPL and BBL were okay for a while but now South Africa and UAE are also bringing their private leagues. If the number of such leagues keeps increasing then international cricket will be only for the World Cup.
