ILT20: Yusuf Pathan Named As the New Captain for Dubai Capitals
The ILT20 competition is in the concluding stage with only one match to do. The Dubai Capitals franchise on Sunday before the last group game of Dubai Capitals announced their new captain. Yusuf Pathan will take over the leadership from Rovman Powell but the reason is yet to be known. The Delhi Capitals team is at the 5th position in the ILT20 points table and their performance throughout the tournament has been disappointing.
The franchise has won merely 3 out of the 9 games played so far. A loss against Desert Vipers in their last ILT20 encounter has made it difficult for the team to reach the playoffs. Yusuf Pathan to lead Dubai Capitals for the rest of ILT20
“The GMR-owned Dubai Capitals today announced Yusuf Pathan as the new captain for remainder of ILT20, currently being held in the UAE. The Dubai Capitals will take on the MI Emirates in their last league stage match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The team is currently in fifth place in the points table,” the official statement read.
In order to keep themselves alive in the tournament, Dubai Capitals will have to win the ongoing game against MI Emirates. 3 teams have already qualified for the ILT20 qualifiers while Abu Dhabi Knight Riders are out of the competition. Dubai Capitals and Sharjah Warriors are two teams fighting for the last spot. In the last game of the group stage, Sharjah will face the Gulf Giants.
Yusuf Pathan has appeared in 174 IPL matches. He has amassed 3204 runs with a strike rate of 142.97. The all-rounder has 42 wickets to his name. He has three IPL titles. Additionally, he was a member of the Indian T20 World Cup winning team in 2007. Meanwhile, Yusuf Pathan led the Capitals, won the toss, and decided to bowl first. In 13 overs at the loss of 4 wickets, they were at 95 runs.
