IND vs AUS: Australia has not won a test series in India in the last 19 years. They won their first and only series in India way back in 2003–04. That’s why Team India will be the favourite going forward in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The first test match will take place in Nagpur and will start on February 9 at 9:30 p.m. at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. But India will be without its two match-winners.

Rishabh Pant, the man who led India to the BGT 2021 win, is not part of the series. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was not in the team for the first two tests. Thus, it will be a big challenge for the hosts against an in-form Australia. Many former cricketers have started predicting the score line for the upcoming series. Some have opined that Australia will win, while others have backed India.

IND vs AUS: “It Would Be 2-1 To….”- Ex-South Africa Captain Makes a Bold Prediction Ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy

One such bold prediction was made by the former South African skipper, JP Duminy. In a virtual conference by SA20, Duminy said that Australia has a better chance in the upcoming series. Duminy is the coach of the Paarl Royals in the inaugural SA20. He also named the Australian opener Usman Khawaja the “Player of the Series.” Duminy said that for India, Ravi Ashwin will be the key because he has a great record in India. He said,

I feel it would be 2-1 to Australia and for me the Player-of-The-Series would be Usman Khawaja. Ashwin has a prolific Test record in India, he’s probably going to be the key for them. When it comes to Test cricket, you have got to utilise your resources. Guys like (Cheteshwar) Pujara, Virat Kohli, who are prolific in Test cricket. They churn out runs after runs.

Further, Duminy also talked about India’s “Mr. 360,” Suryakumar Yadav. He said that he is pretty exciting to watch, and if India is looking to play aggressive cricket, then he is the perfect option. After so much noise over the turning wickets in India, the former South African skipper also shared his views on that. He stated that there is nothing wrong with using the conditions at home. Duminy stated that if Australia wants to become the best team, they will have to beat India in their home conditions.
