Ind vs Aus: Ravindra Jadeja Delighted to Be Back on the Indian Side
Injuries can be annoying to the players, especially with the big tournaments around but one cannot avoid them. A knee injury forced Ravindra Jadeja to miss 5 months of cricket and the T20 World Cup. However, the player is now all set to be part of the playing XI in the Ind vs Aus test series. BCCI had asked Jadeja to play a Ranji trophy game before the Border-Gavaskar trophy to prove his fitness and take clearance from NCA.
In the Ranji Trophy game, Ravindra Jadeja picked up 7 wickets and proved his fitness for the Ind vs Aus test series. Jadeja admitted that deciding whether to have an operation prior to or following the World Cup was stressful for him, but he ultimately followed the doctor’s advice. In a recent video uploaded by BCCI, the all-rounder is seen giving an insight into his recovery journey.

I was eagerly waiting to get fit as soon as possible: Ravindra Jadeja
“I am very excited and happy that after almost more than five months, I get to wear the Indian jersey again. I have been blessed that I was given the opportunity again and the journey to reach here was full of up and downs. Because if you are not playing cricket for five months, it becomes very frustrating and obviously, I was eagerly waiting to get fit as soon as possible so that I can go play for India. The period after that (surgery) was pretty difficult because you have to continuously do rehab and training. You had thoughts in your head about your fitness when you saw the matches on TV like I was watching the World Cup, I wished that I was there,” Ravindra Jadeja said.
Furthermore, the all-rounder gave credit to doctors at the NCA. He acknowledged that the physiotherapists as well as trainers helped him recover from the knee injury. Sharing an incident Jadeja said that on the weekly off too, the physios would come and work with him. Jadeja’s return to the side has not only strengthened the bowling but the lower middle-order batting too. The first Ind vs Aus test match begins on Wednesday 9th February at Nagpur.
