IND vs AUS: “This Is Habitual. If They Don’t Understand, It Becomes Unfair”- Ex-PAK Skipper Slams Ian Healy’s “Unfair Wicket” Statement
IND vs AUS: India will face off against Australia in their next assignment, which will be a four-match test series. The upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy will decide whether India makes it to the World Test Championship final or not. It is very important for Rohit Sharma and Co. to win the upcoming series by a good margin to advance to the WTC final. But it will not be that easy as they will face the No. 1 ranked team, Australia.

However, India has been a force to be reckoned with when it comes to playing bilateral series at home across all formats. Especially in test cricket, they have dominated every opposition at home. The biggest challenge for any touring team is the pitch conditions in India. That’s what former Australian wicketkeeper and batter Ian Healy pointed out in one of his recent interviews. However, he took his statement to another level and labelled the pitches in India as “unfair wickets” to bat on.

IND vs AUS: “If they don’t understand it, it becomes unfair”- Salman Butt on Ian Healy’s statement
In a discussion on SENQ Breakfast, Healy said that India always produces batting wickets that, once they start spinning, spin a long way. He added that if India will prepare such kind of “unfair wickets” then India will win. However, that statement from Healy caught the attention of many. Even veteran Indian off-spinner Ravi Ashwin reacted to that.
He said that Healy’s statement will surely set off a spark in the series. And now, former Pakistani skipper Salman Butt has also backed Ashwin and reacted to Healy’s statement. In a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Butt said,
“When teams from subcontinent travel (to Australia), they don’t complain about pitches. Like teams have to deal with Perth, they also get tested by spin (in India). Shouldn’t make statements like these about pitch. The outcome is being decided on the same pitch – the other team is winning so it means they are doing something better. This is habitual. If they don’t understand it, it becomes unfair.”
India needs a win margin of 3-1 or 3-0 to make sure that they will play in the WTC final in June this year. Meanwhile, Australia is at the top of the WTC table and needs just one win or draw to go through. The other three games will take place in Delhi, Dharamsala, and Ahmedabad.
