IND vs BAN: After a disappointing 2022 T20 World Cup campaign, India travelled to New Zealand for a white-ball tour. That tour consists of three T20Is and three ODIs, with all the seniors given rest. India registered a 1-0 T20I series win under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, while the ODI series is set to start on Friday, November 25 at Eden Park. The veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team in three ODIs.

After this, India will fly to Bangladesh for three ODIs and two Test matches. All the senior players will join the team on that tour, which will start with the first ODI on December 4 (Sunday) at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. However, one name that also made the squad was star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was picked in both the ODI and Test teams. However, now it has been learned from some media reports that the all-rounder hasn’t recovered from his injury.

IND vs BAN: Ravindra Jadeja set to miss the Bangladesh tour

IND vs BAN: Ravindra Jadeja To Miss the Bangladesh Tour Due to Injury, Suryakumar Yadav Set To Replace Him: Reports

Jadeja suffered a knee injury during the Asia Cup 2022, which led him to miss the action completely. He was at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for his rehab. However, some media reports confirmed that Jadeja has not fully recovered and may not be able to join the team until the series begins. As a result, India has a significant role to play because his presence provides balance to the side.

Ravindra Jadeja has been a vital part of the team across all three formats. His absence has already cost India the Asia Cup as well as the T20 World Cup in 2022. Especially in test format, he is a key player in the team, giving India the right balance. And with the World Test Championship on the list, his absence will be a huge setback for India. Now, it will be a big ask for India ahead of the test. A BCCI source confirmed his injury status to PTI.

He said, “Jadeja has been to NCA for his check-up and rehab on a number of occasion. However as of now, it is unlikely that he will be fit for the Bangladesh series. In any case, Chetan Sharma-led former selection committee had kept him in the squad subject to fitness.”

Although India already has three specialist spinners in the team. They have picked Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav in the test squad. But the pitches in Bangladesh offer a lot to the spinners. Thus, India might need a fourth spinner for their team. But then, some reports also suggest that India is looking to give a chance to Suryakumar Yadav in the test team to utilise his dream form. If it happens, we might see him in Indian whites.
