IND vs NZ: “He Will Be Batting At…”- Rohit Sharma Confirmed Ishan Kishan’s Place in the Indian Batting Order Ahead of First ODI vs NZ

IND vs NZ: After winning the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, Team India will face New Zealand in their next assignment. They will play the three ODIs, and the first game will start on January 18 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. If India wins the series, they will move to the top of the ODI team rankings. However, it will be a tough challenge for Team India as New Zealand is coming off a 2-1 series win against Pakistan.

On the other hand, India will also be without the likes of KL Rahul and Axar Patel, who are missing the series for family reasons. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer sustained a back injury on the eve of the first ODI. He has been ruled out of the team. India has named Rajat Patidar as Iyer’s replacement. However, it appeared difficult that Patidar might not get a game or not.

IND vs NZ: Rohit Sharma confirmed Ishan Kishan batting’s place for 1st ODI vs NZ

On the other hand, Ishan Kishan hasn’t got a game since he smashed the fastest ODI double century last month. The left-hander smashed a 128-ball 200 against Bangladesh in the third and final ODI. But he didn’t get a game to play in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. But ahead of the first ODI game against New Zealand, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed that Ishan will feature in the series and also confirmed his batting position. In the post-match conference, Rohit said,
“Ishan will be batting middle-order, I’m glad that he can get a run here after a fine knock against Bangladesh. Going into the series it’s pretty simple for us, we just want to keep improving as a team. New Zealand is a very good team, they’re coming off a great series victory against Pakistan, so obviously they are playing some good cricket.”
Notably, Rahul was keeping the wickets in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, and now he is not available. Kishan will feature in the series. And he might bat at No. 4, where Iyer was batting. Rohit, along with Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, looked in great touch against Sri Lanka. They will look to replicate the performance against New Zealand. The third and final ODI will take place on January 24, and it will be followed by three T20Is. For T20Is, Hardik Pandya will lead the team, and Suryakumar Yadav is the vice-captain.
