He smashed a double century off 144 balls and reached this milestone with three consecutive sixes off Lockie Ferguson in the 49th over of the first inning. The fans on the ground enjoyed Gill’s inning during the game and definitely got their money’s worth. There was no doubt that spectators enjoyed his inning. But when the 24-year-old was fielding during the second inning, one incident caught the attention of the world. It happened when Gill was fielding near the boundary line, and some fans welcomed him with the chants of “Sara, Sara.” The 24-year-old stayed very calm and waved at the fans.
Earlier, some media rumours indicated that the Indian star was in linked up with Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter Sara. Then, his name was linked to Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan when the two were seen on a dinner date in Dubai. Though neither of them has issued an official statement on the rumors.
Speaking of the game, it was a brilliant game which finished in the last over. Chasing the target of 350 runs, New Zealand was almost out of the contest when they lost their six wickets for 131 runs. But then came the match-turning partnership of 162 runs between Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner (57). Bracewell reached his century off just 53 balls and took the game deep. He scored 140 runs off just 78 balls, smashing 12 fours and 10 sixes. But New Zealand got all out for 337 runs and lost the game by 12 runs.
