IND vs NZ: Virat Kohli on the cusp of breaking Ricky Ponting’s huge record

Virat scored the 46th century of his ODI career and needs three more to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 49 ODI hundreds. However, the form he is in, it might not take long that he will achieve it. On the other hand, he has broken some great records in the last few games, and now he is close enough to surpass the all-time record of former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting. Notably, Ponting, along with former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, have scored most ODI centuries against the Kiwis.
Both batters have smashed six ODI centuries each, which is the most by any batter against New Zealand. Virat is second on the list, with the joint-second most centuries among them. He, along with Sachin and Sanath Jayasuriya, have scored five centuries in ODIs against the Kiwis. If Virat can score two centuries in the upcoming series, he will move to the top of the table.
Virat has scored four of his five centuries against New Zealand at home. But his form in the last few games against the Kiwis hasn’t been that convincing. In his last seven ODIs, he has scored only 224 runs with two half centuries. But this might be a chance to improve those numbers.
