IND vs SA: Team India has been suffering from a list of injuries for the last couple of years. And it has now become a regular sight that 2-3 Indian players get injured. This IPL season, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Deepak Chahar have already been ruled out due to injuries. Now, the new name on this list is RCB pacer, Harshal Patel. The 31-year-old suffered an injury to his bowling hand during the match against Gujarat Titans.

He got hit by the ball during fielding and suffered a split web on Thursday. As a result, he bowled only one over in the entire match and went off the field. Such a kind of injury (split webbing) can take up to four weeks to heal, depending on how serious it is.

That means Harshal is likely to miss the South African T20I series that will start after the IPL. That will be a big setback for the Men in Blue, as he is in great form and the selectors are thinking of resting senior pacers. So, Harshal was the bowler to lead the team. And now with his injury, he might miss the entire series.

Few media reports suggest that Virat, Rohit, Bumrah, and some regular members will be given rest and they will directly fly to the UK for the postponed Test match and white-ball series. As per Insidesport, a member of the selection committee said,

“We are in touch with RCB’s medical team. We should have an update in a day or two. He is certainly doubtful but not ruled out. We have some days left.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will host the selection committee meeting on May 23. The Indian squad will be announced on May 25. The selection committee head, Chetan Sharma, is likely to meet with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in this regard. Apart from the news of resting senior players, Rohit is keen to go with a full-strength team to maintain the world record and his winning streak.

But these injuries have already sidelined some of the regulars from the team. All the players will assemble on June 4 at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The first match will start on June 9 in Delhi.
