IND vs WI: India to Give Break to a Few Senior Players for the West Indies Tour – Reports

The team for the white-ball series for the West Indies tour is yet to be announced. But as per some reports, Chetan Sharma, the chairman of the selection committee, who is currently in England with the team, will have word with the seniors related to this matter.

On the other hand, selectors are not looking to give Rohit Sharma a break. Because the Indian teams have already had a number of captains in the past few months. KL Rahul led India in South Africa. Then, in his absence, it was Rishabh Pant who led India at home against South Africa. Hardik Pandya captained India recently against Ireland. Then Jasprit Bumrah became the captain and led India in the fifth and final test at Edgbaston.

As per a few reports on Cricbuzz, head coach Rahul Dravid is not keen on the idea of having so many captains leading the team. A few senior players, like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, were already rested from the home series against South Africa. So it will be interesting to see if this idea of resting players will get the thumbs up by the management or not. Notably, India have selected two different teams for the T20I against England. Virat, Bumrah, Pant, and Jadeja will not play in the first T20I. However, they will be back with the team for the second and third matches.
