Then, it was all-rounder Cameron Green, who made his maiden Test hundred. He scored 114 runs with 18 boundaries. For India, all the bowlers struggled to get going. However, the veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had a better outing with the ball. Continuing his form, he picked up six wickets in the first inning of the fourth test. He also broke the 208-run partnership between Khawaja and Green.

IND vs AUS: Ravichandran Ashwin becomes India’s leading wicket-taker against Australia in Tests
Ashwin again broke the 70-run stand between Nathan Lyon (34) and Todd Murphy (41) for the ninth wicket. The 36-year-old ended up with 6/91 in 47.2 overs on a pitch that didn’t have much for the spinners. It was the 32nd Test fifer for Ashwin’s career overall, and with it he achieved some great milestones in his career. Most recently, he gained the No. 1 ranking in the test format.
On Friday, he registered his 26th Test five-wicket haul in India, taking over Anil Kumble’s record. Kumble had 25 test fifers in India. With this, Ashwin has also become the bowler with the second-most fifers at home. He is only behind Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan, who has 45 fifers on home soil. On the other hand, Ashwin equaled James Anderson’s 32nd five-wicket haul in test career and is joint-sixth most in the longest format.
Muralidharan (67), Shane Warne (37), Richard Hadlee (36), Anil Kumble (35) and Rangana Herath (33) are only ahead of him with most test fifers. Adding to that, the 36-year-old also went past Kumble and became the highest wicket-taker against Australia in Tests. Ashwin has now taken 112 wickets, compared to Kumble’s 111. Nathan Lyon is at the top with 113 wickets, the most wickets between both teams.
