Ind vs Aus: Rohit Sharma Completes 17,000 International Runs

Coming out to chase the massive score of 480, the Indian openers looked in great touch. However, despite the pitch-supporting batters, Rohit Sharma once again failed to convert his good start into a big score. He was dismissed by Matthew Kuhnemann on a score of 35 runs.

However, during his short innings, Rohit Sharma reached an incredible personal milestone and completed 17,000 international runs. In his 438th game for India, Rohit needed 21 runs to join the exclusive club. He achieved the accomplishment during the initial session of the fourth day of play while playing for India. Rohit Sharma has been one of India’s top Test run scorers in the last few years. With almost 1700 runs in 22 Tests, since the World Test Championship began in 2019, he has been India’s leading scorer. With more than 200 runs, the Indian skipper is the leading run-scorer in the ongoing Ind vs Aus test series.

Rohit Sharma has become the 6th Indian player to reach this milestone. Apart from Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and MS Dhoni have reached the milestone earlier. Talking about the ongoing Ind vs Aus game, after the dismissal of captain Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill built a strong partnership till tea. Shubman Gill completed his second test ton meanwhile, Pujara was out for 42 runs in the over right before lunch.

Ravindra Jadeja was promoted up the order after Shubman Gill’s well-set innings ended on 128 runs. By end of day 3 of the Ind vs Aus fourth Test, Virat Kohli finally reached his first half-century in the test game after 15 innings. India is currently at 289 runs with a loss of 3 wickets. Both the batters, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja will start the day 4 for India tomorrow as the team tries to secure their position in the World Test Championship finals.
