IND vs AUS: “Suryakumar Yadav needs to spend time with the batting coach”, Sunil Gavaskar
IND vs AUS: Team India’s T20 sensation Suryakumar Yadav has yet again missed an opportunity to seal his spot in the Indian ODI squad. Yadav has been dismissed twice for a golden duck in India vs Australia ODI series which has now put question marks on his ability to play in the ODI format.

Veteran Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar was disappointed after seeing the prolific T20 batter missing out on yet another opportunity in the 50-over format. Speaking to Star Sports, Sunil Gavaskar expressed his concerns over Suryakumar Yadav’s batting technique.
“He is facing technical difficulties. Also, his stance is an open one. It is good for T20 cricket because any delivery that is overpitched, he can flick it for a six. But here, when the ball is placed right near the foot, with this stance, the bat will definitely come across. It cannot come straight,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

“Hence, if the ball turns inside, he will face difficulty. He needs to spend time with the batting coach on how to come out of this,” the Veteran batter further added.
IND vs AUS: Suryakumar Yadav registers back-to-back golden ducks
The aggressive batter got an opportunity to play in the Indian ODI XI after Shreyas Iyer was ruled out due to a back injury. In the first ODI, Mitchell Starc dismissed him with an inswinging delivery right on the first delivery he played.
After missing out on his opportunity in the first ODI, Suryakumar Yadav got another opportunity in the Vizag ODI. However, Starc looked even more threatening in the second ODI as he yet again dismissed Yadav with the same mode of dismissal.
Suryakumar Yadav has now registered back-to-back golden ducks which is certainly forgetful for a batter of his stature. Talking about his stats, Suryakumar Yadav has just scored 433 runs in his 21 outings. While he scores at a decent strike rate of 102.61, his average in the ODI format is just 27.06 which is quite lower than his T20 average of 46.53.
It will be interesting to see if Suryakumar Yadav will get another opportunity in the third ODI in Chennai considering his failures in the first two games. Things will certainly not help his cause if he keeps missing out on the opportunities provided by the Indian team management.
