IND VS AUS: Why He Is Not Playing?: Murali Vijay Questions Prithvi Shaw’s Absence

Many fans and former greats have questioned Shaw’s continued absence from Team India on many occasions. The latest one to join the list is former Indian opening batter Murali Vijay. Vijay believes Shaw and Shubman Gill can become Team India’s next batting legends. But he is baffled as to why Shaw isn’t a squad member.

“15 superstars are playing for India. If you are playing for India, you are already a superstar to me. But skill-wise, I love Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw. They are top players. Rishabh Pant has done a great job for Indian cricket as well. I wish him a speedy recovery. Shreyas Iyer is doing well. I don’t know why he (Shaw) is not playing now. You should ask the team management.”

Vijay told the Hindustan Times when asked about the next Indian batting superstar

He stated he doesn’t know why the talented batter Prithvi Shaw isn’t playing for India, focusing specifically on him. Shaw last represented India in a tour of Sri Lanka in 2021. He was named in the Indian T20I squad for the New Zealand series earlier this year but was not given a game.

In his first innings of play for India in a Test match against the West Indies in October 2018, Shaw recorded a century. He has so far participated in five tests, six ODIs, and one T20I for the Men in Blue. Where he scored 339, 189, and 0 runs, respectively. Vijay also had a suggestion for the struggling KL Rahul.

Rahul was relieved of his duties as the Indian vice-captain in Test matches after his persistent struggles in the first two Tests against Australia. He was also dropped from the Indian playing XI. Shubman Gill took his place and made the most of his opportunity scoring his second Test ton in Ahmedabad.
