IND VS AUS: “Green Is a Fantastic Player,” Reckons Ashwin
Addressing a press conference post day 2, Ashwin, who dismissed Green for his personal best score of 114, lauded the effort of the young all-rounder, saying that his all-round ability makes him a fantastic player. Ashwin also expects Green to become a wonderful cricketer in the near future.
“I hope you tuned into the IPL auction; it just tells you how the Indian cricketing fraternity rates Cameron Green. I think he’s a fantastic player. Just the raw materials for a person as tall as him, lovely levers, good batting sense, can bowl and really hit the deck well, moves pretty well on the field. These are once-in-a-generation cricketers you are talking about. We come from different countries – India is very different, we can’t protect such players for a long period of time. It’s perform or perish. But in countries like Australia and England, they’re doing pretty well at that. I expect Cameron Green to be a wonderful cricketer down the line,” Ravichandran Ashwin said in the press conference.
Ashwin was the star performer for India with the ball on a good batting deck in Ahmedabad. He claimed his 32nd Test fifer in the fourth ongoing Test, finishing with 6/91. This will go down as one of his most memorable spells considering the nature of the Ahmedabad wicket.
