Akash Chopra Says Yuzvendra Chahal Will Replace Kuldeep Yadav in Next Game

The India vs Sri Lanka second ODI at Eden Gardens was comfortably won by India. The men in blue had one change on the side. Yuzvendra Chahal had hurt his shoulder and was replaced by Kuldeep Yadav. Thanks to the bowling performance of Kuldeep Yadav and the batting performance of KL Rahul, India sealed the series. However, Akash Chopra believes that even after delivering a match-winning performance, Yadav wouldn’t be a part of the squad.

During the India vs Bangladesh 1 test of the series, Kuldeep Yadav picked up a 5-wicket haul. It was expected that in the next match, the match-winner would replicate his performance. Unfortunately, the spinner was dropped in order to make way for Jaydev Unadkat. Referring to the same, Akash Chopra said once Yuzvendra Chahal recovers from his shoulder injury he will be back in the playing XI for the India vs Sri Lanka final ODI.

Yadav had picked up 3 wickets for 57 runs in 10 overs and scored 10 runs not out. Chopra gave a positive critique of the contest in a video posted to his YouTube channel. “Kuldeep Yadav has a simple funda, he will become the Man of the Match if you give him a chance to play. He was the Player of the Match in the first match in Bangladesh and didn’t play the second match. Here also he has become the Player of the Match and might not play the next match. He will be made to sit out once Yuzi is available,” he said.

“Kuldeep Yadav – what a bowler, wickets right from the start. He picked up three wickets and when he dismissed Dasun Shanaka, he might have been telling the others that they were unable to get him out and he dismissed him in a jiffy,” Akash Chopra continued. After a stellar victory in the first match of the series, the top order failed in the second game. Nonetheless, KL Rahul who was batting at number 5 scored a steady half-century helping with the 4-wicket win. The final game of the series will be on Sunday at Thiruvananthapuram.

The series victory will boost the confidence of not just Kuldeep Yadav who was declared player of the match but of the team too. New Zealand is playing their last match of the Pakistan ODI series after which they will tour India for a T20 and ODI series having 3 matches each.
