IND VS WI, 1st ODI: India managed to upset Aakash Chopra in their first One Day International against West Indies. First ODI of the three-match series between India and the West Indies started on a winning note for the host. The Men in Blue were absolutely sensational in the ODI match as they secured a massive victory by six wickets in IND VS WI 1st ODI.

The win also acted as a morale booster for the hosts following an embarrassing white-wash against South Africa in the three-match ODI series. One of the highlights of the game was all-rounder Deepak Chahar making his debut for India.

The 26-year-old was handed his ODI cap by the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Hooda made his way into the playing XI as a potential all-rounder who could act as a sixth bowler for the team and an able number six batter.

However, the viewers were left surprised when the skipper Rohit Sharma didn’t test Hooda’s bowling capabilities. The 34-year-old decided to go ahead with his five bowling options namely Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Aakash Chopra also seemed shocked with the treatment given to Deepak Hooda and he took to his official Twitter handle to lambast the skipper and team management. In his tweet, Chopra also recalled how Venkatesh Iyer wasn’t given a chance to bowl on his ODI debut. Do check our daily cricket tips and free guide from betting experts.

Notably, Iyer was handed his ODI debut in the first One Day International of the three-match series against South Africa last month. The all-rounder didn’t get a chance to bowl in the first game and he was tested as a bowler only in his second ODI.

“Venkatesh Iyer earlier. Hooda today. Kinda impossible to create all-rounders if they won’t get to bowl…Or…perhaps, selectors are picking players as all-rounders but the team management has little or no faith in their bowling abilities,”

Aakash Chopra tweeted.

The criticism by Chopra didn’t go down well with one of the cricket fans. The fan slammed the former cricketer for always spreading negativity. He also justified the situation saying that India didn’t need a sixth bowler.

“Do you ever have anything positive to apeak ?. Today there was no need for the 6th bowler. No wonder u played only a few matches. Come up. Stop spreading negativity,”

a fan tweeted.

Chopra, who is quite active on social media, quickly took note of the tweet and came up with a savage reply. The 44-year-old wrote exclaimed that the best time to try new options is when there is no pressure and the team is in a winning position.

“The best time to try new options is when there’s little or no pressure. That way you prepare them for the tough assignments. You don’t throw people at the deep end on their first day at work. No wonder…let it be,”

Aakash Chopra replied.
