IPL 2022: 3 Players SRH Might Release Ahead of Next Year’s Auction
IPL 2022: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) finished eighth in this season’s IPL after winning six of 14 games. For the past two years, SRH captain Kane Williamson has been unable to lead the team into the playoffs. Even as a batter, Williamson only mustered 216 runs across 13 games at an average of 19.63. If you are searching for the best betting sites in India, you are in the ideal place!
SRH had a season of two halves, to say the least. They lost the first two games of the season and the demons of 2021 were back. However, they made a remarkable turnaround and won five matches on a trot. Post that it seemed SRH forgot how to win. The bowling which was their strong suit faltered badly as SRH could win only 2 out of their remaining 7 games.

Despite a horrid show at the back end of the tourney, some players stood out tall. Players like Umran Malik and Rahul Tripathi made headlines throughout the tournament with their outstanding performances. However, some players did not perform to their full potential, so SRH may look to release such players before the next season.
IPL 2022: RCB is unlikely to retain these three players
1) Shreyas Gopal
Shreyas Gopal has represented several IPL franchises over the years and is known for his all-around abilities. This year, SRH retained his services in the hopes of putting on another strong performance with both the bat and the ball. He didn’t get many chances, however, because SRH preferred Washington Sundar and Jagadeesha Suchith over him. Gopal only got to play one game, in which he gave up 34 runs in three overs and only took one wicket. He scored nine runs off seven balls with the bat.
As a result, SRH can release him in order to pursue a better young prospect in the coming year. A more capable Indian all-rounder will contribute to the team’s stability. They can also give Abdul Samad more chances to establish himself in the team. It will also assist Kane Williamson in diversifying his starting lineup.
2) Sean Abbott

SRH paid INR 2.40 crore for this 30-year-old Australian pacer in the mega IPL auction. When it comes to franchise cricket, Sean Abbott has played in the BBL and represented RCB in the IPL. However, he has had few opportunities to showcase his full potential in the IPL. SRH only gave him one match in which he failed to create any impact. Abbott only took one wicket while conceding 47 runs in four overs. He also failed to contribute with the bat, scoring only seven runs.
Lack of opportunity indicated that SRH was dissatisfied with him and that he might be released. It will open up a spot for an overseas player, and SRH will be able to bring in a better all-rounder in the future. It will supplement the current bowling lineup of Malik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Marco Jansen.
3) Romario Shepherd
SRH paid INR 7.75 crore for the behemoth all-rounder from the West Indies at the 2022 mega auction. Romario Shepherd is known for his hard-hitting ability and his ability to turn a match on its head on his own. Moreover, he can ruffle any batsmen with sheer pace. However, he failed to make an impression in his IPL debut season. In three matches, the West Indian batsman was ineffective, scoring 58 runs at a strike rate of just over 120. Shepherd was also costly with the ball, allowing runs at an economy rate of 10.89 while taking only three wickets.
He has failed to meet expectations and to justify the large sum of money spent on him at the auction. Hence, by releasing Shepherd SRH can increase its purse wallet going into the next year’s mini-auction and buy another prominent all-rounder who can deliver with both bat and the ball.
