IPL 2022: The ever-improving IPL team, Delhi Capitals, has played some really competitive cricket in recent times. The 2020 IPL finalists will be entering into the next season with the aim of lifting the trophy this year. Since the appointment of Ricky Ponting, the Delhi team has improved immensely over the last few seasons. And after the IPL auction 2022, the team looks stronger than ever.

Delhi Capitals picked 19 players in the auction, including some big names. DC has bought a few international stars with India experienced players. But the first headache will be picking the playing XI for the team. And the most important part will be the overseas players. Who will be those four players who fit in perfectly with the team? So let’s take a look at the best four options the DC has as their first choice overseas players.

IPL 2022: 4 Choice Overseas Players for DC in Their Playing XI

1. David Warner

Delhi Capitals signed one of the hot property in the auction David Warner for an amount of INR 6.25 crore. And no doubt that he is one of the best opening options a team could ever have. However, the left-hander didn’t have a good run in the last season. But as it says, “form is temporary and class is permanent.” He came up with a bang in the T20I World Cup and led his team to victory.

He was the “Man of the Tournament” in the World Cup. And now he is back with his former franchise that he played with in the 2013 season. He will be seen opening with Prithvi Shaw as the team needed a good opener after Shikhar Dhawan was released. So, without a doubt, he will be the first choice as an overseas player in the team.

2. Anrich Nortje

One of the overseas retention for the Delhi Capitals was Anrich Nortje. He was retained ahead of the auction at a price of INR 6.5 crore. The decision to retain him is also an indication of him as their few choices as an overseas player. The South African Speedster has been leading the team’s bowling attack for the last two seasons. He, along with Rabada and Avesh Khan, made a superb bowling trio.

But now, in the absence of Rabad and Avesh Khan, all the onus will be on his shoulders. He has played 24 matches for DC and picked up 34 wickets at an impressive economy of 7.65. And as the leader of the bowling lineup, he will be the automatic choice on the team.

3. Mitchell Marsh

The Australian all-rounder is one of the most powerful strikers of the ball in the current era. Delhi Capitals bought him for an amount of INR 6.5 crore at the auction. Mitchell Marsh entered the auction with a base price of INR 2 crore. And as expected, he got some big money. The all-rounder came onto the world’s radar after his heroic innings in the finals of the T20I World Cup against New Zealand. And it was his innings of 77 runs that helped Australia chase down the target.

Marsh has played a handful of IPL games, as he was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2020 season. The younger Marsh brother has played 21 IPL games, scored 225 runs, and has 20 wickets to his name. As Shreyas Iyer is not in the team, he will be the perfect fit for the number three position.

4. Lungi Ngidi

Lungi Ngidi is another talented prospect from South Africa. The young pacer played his last few seasons for Chennai Super Kings. And he did perform decently whenever he got the chance. However, he was released by CSK and he went unsold in the first round of the auction. But DC eventually bought him from the re-auction list at his base price of INR 50 lakh.

On the other hand, Ngidi performed really well in the Test series against India at home, which means he is in good form. And the pacer could be a perfect replacement for Rabada. Ngidi has played 14 IPL matches and has taken 25 wickets at an average of 17.9. So he could he a perfect choice as a fourth overseas player in the team.
