IPL 2022 LIVE: Virat Kohli displayed yet another lackluster performance in the last match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The ex-RCB skipper got a decent start but failed to build it. Kohli scored a labored 30 off 33 balls, including three fours and one six before being dismissed by Moeen Ali. In fact, he was very reluctant to hit the big shots and looked only for singles and doubles.

Kohli scored a nifty 58 against the Gujarat Titans (GT), his highest score of the season. However, he consumed 53 balls to score those runs. His lack of fluency has Kohli’s been a matter of concern, feels Ian Bishop. Kohli has amassed 175 runs with a strike rate of 111.09, the third-lowest among batters with a min of 150 runs this season.

It was a classic off-spinner’s dismissal against the right-handers. The ball pitched in the good length area, spun sharply, and pierced Kohli’s stumps while he was trying to look for a single on the leg side. Highlighting Kohli’s struggle against spinners in IPL, the former West Indian pacer said that the ex-India skipper is finding different ways to get out to spinners and that is a matter of concern.

“For a while, for 10 or 15 runs, he wasn’t even going at a run-a-ball, or he was just going at a run-a-ball,”

Kohli scored 88 runs in the last two innings but with a strike rate of 102.3. The 31-year-old took his time to settle in but failed to bat deep and anchor RCB’s innings. In fact, Kohli played 16 dot balls in the match against CSK but failed to make up for his slow start.

“He didn’t get ahead, and there wasn’t much intent. He hit one [six] over extra-cover off the seamer, and that was when he just went ahead to a run-a-ball and then he came back. And he isn’t going deep into the innings either. So those deliveries don’t come back to you. Even if RCB won, that wasn’t an innings, even given the difficulties of the pitch, that you could say caused a match-winning total,”

Bishop further clarified that he himself is a big fan of Kohli and this isn’t a criticism but just his observation in the last few days. Well, this isn’t the first time Kohli has been troubled by off-spinners. In the recent home series against West Indies, Roston Chase made Kohli his bunny.

“Roston Chase got him out in the West Indies series (at home in February), we saw him getting out to the off-spinner in Test matches. So, I’m concerned about … and I’m a Kohli fan
