IPL 2022 LIVE: Five People Arrested for Running an Alleged Betting Racket from the Eden Gardens during the LSG vs RCB Eliminator
IPL 2022 LIVE: The Eliminator match of the TATA IPL 2022 took place between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. But apart from an exciting game at Eden Gardens, something unwanted also happened. That was the arrest of five people from the ground. As per the latest developments, five people have been arrested during the match for running an alleged betting racket during the match. Three of them were caught inside the stadium. However, the other two were arrested at a nearby guesthouse in the New Market area.
The names of the five accused are: Sunil Kumar, Amar Kumar, Obada Khalil, Ajay Kumar, and Aniket Kumar. Notably, they are all residents of Bihar and were accused of operating betting racket operations from the stadium. The Anti-Rowdy Squad (ARS) under the Detective Department (DD) of the Kolkata Police arrested the culprits. After getting the update, the ARS members rushed to the stadium and caught three youngsters. As per the reports, the ARS also found some equipment used for betting from the guesthouse. Notably, seven mobile phones, a portable router and cash were captured from the spot.

Earlier in the match, RCB found another gem in their batting lineup. The heroic efforts of Rajat Patidar helped RCB cross the hurdle of the Eliminator. RCB has won the Eliminator after two back-to-back failures in the last two seasons. The third time they got lucky. Batting first, RCB posted a massive score of 207/4 in their 20 overs. Rajat Patidar scored his maiden century and remained unbeaten on 112* from 54 balls. Dinesh Karthik also played a cameo at the end of 37* off 23 balls.

LSG lost Quinton de Kock in the very first over of the chase. But the partnership between Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul kept them in the game. KL scored yet another half-century as he scored 79 off 58 balls. But in the end, they fell short by 14 runs and lost the match. Josh Hazlewood (3/43) and Harshal Patel were the stars with the ball for RCB.
RCB has advanced to the Qualifier 2 and will square off against Rajasthan Royals tomorrow. It will be another do-or-die game, and the winner of this match will qualify for the final on Sunday. RR, out of three teams left, has won the IPL once in 2008. GT and RCB will look to win their maiden title.
