DC vs GT: “Feel Sorry for Him..”- Hardik Pandya on Mohammed Shami’s Exceptional Spell After Disappointing Batting Performance vs GT
DC vs GT: After three consecutive wins in the IPL 2023, the defending champion Gujarat Titans suffered a rather unacceptable defeat. On Monday, Delhi Capitals recorded a 5-run win over Hardik Pandya and his men at the Arun Jaitely Stadium. It was another low-scoring IPL encounter where the second team couldn’t chase the target of around 130 runs. DC started poorly in the first inning and lost half of their side in the first five overs for just 23 runs.

However, the lower middle order put the team out of its misery. Axar Patel (27 off 30) and Ripal Patel (23 off 13) made some useful contributions, while Aman Khan, who was playing his seventh IPL game, scored his maiden IPL half-century. It was a fighting knock when wickets were falling at regular intervals. He scored 51 off 44, with three fours and three sixes, to take DC to a score of 130/8. The Delhi top-order couldn’t resist the brilliant spell of veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami.

DC vs GT: “It’s Mohammed Shami’s skill set which made the ball talk”- Hardik Pandya
Shami was unplayable up front for the DC batters. He bowled his four overs on the trot and ended with an exceptional figure of 4/11, which is one of the most economical spells in the IPL in recent times. However, it went in vain, as the GT batters couldn’t finish up the business.
Skipper Hardik also made an unbeaten half-century and scored 59 off 53, and Rahul Tewatia’s 7-ball 20 couldn’t help the team. The GT skipper admitted that Shami’s effort went in vain and the batters couldn’t do their job. In the post-match presentation. Hardik said,
“I feel sorry for him (Shami). If you bowl like that, then you get the team on 129 (130), I think batters disappointed. I don’t think the ball did a lot. I think it’s just that Mohammed Shami’s skill set which he has and he made the ball talk. Otherwise, I think for fast bowlers, the wicket did not have much assistance. But the way he (Shami) bowled four on the trot and got us in the game, full credit.”
Furthermore, he also admitted that he should have finished the game, and he took responsibility for the loss. GT suffered their third loss of the season. Though they are still at the top, the group is getting tighter with every game. The defending champions will now play their next game against Rajasthan Royals on Friday in Jaipur.
