Veteran batter and wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik who was one of the best finishers in the last season of IPL has been disappointing since then. Owing to last year’s knocks, Dinesh Karthik was selected in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup too. However, it seems like those are the things of the past and the batter seems out of touch. The batter has once again found himself in the midst of criticism after his dismissal in the MI vs RCB game.

RCB coach Sanjay Bangar has come in the support of Dinesh Karthik. Bangar explained that Karthik was dehydrated and started feeling unwell during the game. Post his dismissal in the second last over of the first innings, he was groaning repeatedly as he made his way to the pavilion. Dinesh Karthik was off the field in the later half of the game. Anuj Rawat was asked to fill in the wicket-keeping role.

Dinesh Karthik started feeling unwell: Sanjay Bangar

“Dinesh Karthik Started Feeling Unwell,” Says Sanjay Bangar

“During the course of the innings, Dinesh Karthik started feeling unwell. He was a bit dehydrated and on his way back he also vomited. There is enough gap for us, maybe three-four days, so with medicine, I think he should be fine. He is an important member for us and he has a big role to play. Our young Indian batters are not progressing at a very good rate. Lomror has been someone who has taken his chances well. But somebody like Anuj Rawat or Shahbaz Ahmed, whenever they have got those opportunities, unfortunately, they have not been able to capitalize on it,” Sanjay Bangar said.

Dinesh Karthik had a dream run last year, his best since 2018. In 16 games, he stayed not out in 10 of those, scoring a total of 330 runs at an average of 55.00. However, on the other hand, this year in 11 games he has only managed to get 140 runs. Speaking about the game, RCB put up a target of 200 runs which was an easy chase for Mumbai Indians. RCB will now have to win all 3 of their remaining matches to have a chance at playoff qualifications.
