Watch: Ruturaj Gaikwad smashes brilliant fifty in GT vs CSK IPL 2023 Qualifier 1
Gaikwad hit a six and and a four in the second over of CSK innings bowled by Darshan Nalkande and made his intentions pretty clear. The CSK opener knew that it would become even harder as the game progresses.
He then scored a couple of boundaries in the 9th over bowled by GT pacer Mohit Sharma. He quickly reached to the 50-run mark off just 36 deliveries while Devon Conway was finding it hard to get boundaries.
However, he was then dismissed by Mohit Sharma in the 11th over of CSK innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad hammered 60 off 44 balls, which featured seven fours and a maximum and laid a great foundation for the CSK side.
Gaikwad also took over Virat Kohli’s record of hitting the most runs against Gujarat Titans. The CSK opener now has 278 runs in 4 innings against the defending champions, while Virat Kohli has 232 runs from 3 innings.
Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his fourth fifty in 4 matches vs Gujarat Titans. Gaikwad had smashed 73 and 53 in the two games CSK played against GT in IPL 2022. The CSK opener had also scored 92 off 50 balls in this year’s season opener, which Gujarat won by five wickets.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has scored 564 runs so far from 15 matches at an average of 43.38 and a strike rate of 146.88 in IPL 2023. He has also hit 4 fifties including a high score of 92 and will be CSK’s trump card in the IPL 2023 final.
