GT vs RR: Rashid Khan’s incredible spell restricts Rajasthan Royals’ from posting a big total
The GT leg-spinner came in to bowl the last over of powerplay to prevent Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson to play big shots. Jaiswal got run out on the first delivery after which Rashid bowled 5 decent deliveries and conceded just 3 runs off his first over to break the momentum of RR innings.
Rashid Khan started doing some serious damage from his second over in which he conceded just 2 runs and took the crucial wicket of in-form Ravichandran Ashwin. He bowled a leg spin delivery on good length which went past Ashwin’s outside edge as he tried pushing at it while expecting a googly and his off-stump was knocked over.
The leg spinner then came in to bowl the 10th over and this time bowled a googly pitching outside the off-stump. Riyan Parag couldn’t read it as the ball went past his inside edge to crash on to his pads. Rashid made a loud appeal as the on-field umpire adjudged Parag out.
Rashid Khan gave just 5 runs off this over and kept the pressure on the batting side. The GT spinner then came in to bowl the 15th over of RR innings as Hardik Pandya wanted him to get rid of dangerous Shimron Hetmyer.
He made an impact straightaway as he bowled a good length delivery that came in towards Hetmyer’s pads as he looked to defend it. The ball missed the inside edge and made contact with his pads as Rashid Khan got his third wicket while giving away just 14 runs off his four overs.
