Rohit Sharma is going through a lean run in IPL 2023 as he has been dismissed for single digit scores multiple times. Team India’s former coach Ravi Shastri reckons Rohit’s shot selection hasn’t been good in the tournament and he should give himself a bit more time on the crease.

Ravi Shastri while speaking to Star Sports discussed Rohit Sharma’s form and his batting approach in the cash-rich league. The former Indian coach believes Rohit Sharma has more time than a lot of players in the world when it comes to playing the quicks.

“I think give yourself a little bit more time. His shot selection is not the greatest. He mentioned he has a different role to play. But give yourself that little bit more time, his great strength is his ability to play cricketing shots,” Ravi Shastri told Star Sports.

Rohit should not try and be too cute too early: Rohit Sharma

“Back your strength, don’t try and be too cute too early. You have got all the shots in the book, you can make up later on. Just a little bit more time in the first 6 balls or so. Play more cricketing shots rather than trying to improvise early on,” the former Indian coach further discussed Rohit’s batting approach.

Rohit Sharma was dismissed after scoring 7 runs off 8 balls in his last outing against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was dismissed for a duck in Mumbai’s game against Chennai Super Kings which raised question marks on his form with the bat.

The MI skipper’s poor form with the bat has proved to be costly for them as the batting lineup has gone through inconsistent performance throughout the IPL 2023. They have lost 5 out of their 11 games and are now trying their hard to seal a spot in the playoffs despite not getting enough runs from their captain.
