IPL 2022 Auction: During the IPL 2022 auction, the Chennai Super Kings purchased 25 players. They purchased back Deepak Chahar, Dwayne Bravo, Ambati Rayudu, and Robin Uthappa in the IPL Mega Auction 2022, focusing on preserving their core foundation of players. In the end, CSK had a budget of Rs. 2.95 crores left, but their requirement of players had been met.
CSK and Rajasthan Royals went head-to-head in a bidding war to claim Chahar, with Chennai winning for Rs 14 crore, making him the auction’s second most expensive purchase. Since 2018, Chahar has been with CSK. During the auction, Chennai Super Kings had a salary cap of Rs. 48 crores.

On Day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Chennai Super Kings purchased 15 players, up from 6 on Saturday. On that day, Shivam Dube was the most expensive purchase, costing CSK Rs 4 crore. Uthappa has snapped up for INR 2 crore, while Bravo and Rayudu cost CSK INR 4.40 crore and INR 6.75 crore, respectively. During the first day, out of six players they bought, five players had played for the previous season, with bowler Tushar Deshpande being the only newcomer.
