Already, there are some big international names in the auction. However, the Kiwi all-rounder has opened up about his decision to opt-out of the IPL mega-auction. Kyle Jamieson, a former RCB all-rounder has revealed his decision while talking in ESPNCricinfo.
IPL 2022 Auction: “Yeah, look, there were a couple of things for me (for opting out)”, Jamieson
Firstly, Jamieson said that the last 12 months have been very difficult as a cricketer. Traveling with the bio-bubble, staying in isolation, and other factors have affected a lot. Jamieson feels that the schedule for the coming 12 months is very tight. That’s the reason he wants to spend more time at home. He said,
“Firstly, after the last 12 months, it’s had its challenges with MIQs (managed isolation and quarantine) and bubbles and spending a fair amount of time in that sort of set-up. ”It was important for me when I look at the schedule coming up over the next 12 months to try and find six weeks or eight weeks where I can spend some time at home.”
The tall all-rounder wants to work on his game more. Jamieson made his debut against India in February 2020. So far, he has played 12 Tests, 5 ODIs, and 8 T20Is. His debut performance against India caught the eyes of everyone. That’s the reason why last year he was the second-highest paid cricketer in the IPL auction. RCB paid 15 crores for him in the IPL 2021. The all-rounder further added,
“The second thing for me was, reflecting over the last 12-24 months and understanding that I’m very young in my [international] career and only two years in, that I wanted to have time to work on my game. “I didn’t really feel like I was where I wanted to be and if I want to compete for spots in the New Zealand sides moving forward across all three formats, I actually need to spend time working on my game and not just trying to play the whole time. For me, it was just about time at home and just time to work on my game.”

Kyle Jamieson: “I’ve still got a few years ahead to participate in the IPL”
IPL 2022 Auction: Kyle Jamieson was an important part of New Zealand’s recent success. He was the “Man of the Match” in the World Test Championship final. The Kiwi all-rounder also appeared for New Zealand in the 2021 T20I World Cup in the UAE. Jamieson also spoke about his return to the IPL,
“I’m still pretty young, I still think I’m young at 27 and I’ve still got a few years ahead, so this is just for this year and looking at what the next 12 months will look like, and hopefully moving forward, there will be more opportunities to try and dip my toes into that environment.”
Jamieson played nine matches for RCB but wasn’t able to impress much. He took 9 wickets and scored 65 runs in 2021. Here are best betting apps in india that are legit.
