However, Wanindu Hasaranga emerged as the most expensive spinner in the IPL 2022 auction. This Sri Lankan also became the most expensive overseas player in IPL 2022 Auction with a whopping 10.75 crores amount.

The ten franchises spent a total of INR 551 crores to buy the services of all those players. And did their best to compile world-class squads for the upcoming edition of the tournament. In the first 10 players’ marquee set, there was only one spinner name and that was Ravi Ashwin. Some franchises already had their main spinners in the squad either with retention or draft selection procedure.

Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s top white-ball spinner at the moment, was available at the IPL 2022 auction. Surprisingly, RCB decided not to keep him for the following tournament, which could have an impact on their success in the forthcoming auctions.

The Rajasthan Royals would be overjoyed to have gotten Yuzvendra Chahal for INR 6.5 crores. Chahal is currently one of the best spinners in world cricket right now and he is likely to make a significant impact with the ball in IPL 2022. The inclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal should strengthen RR’s bowling attack.

Chahal has enjoyed a great career-building experience in the RCB team under Kohli’s captaincy. He came up with a strategy to give flight in the ball and works for him very well in the Chinnaswamy Stadium. He played 113 innings and got 139 wickets having a 22.28 avg and a 7.89 economy rate. His best performance is 4 for 25 against KXIP in 2016. Now he will play in Sawai Mansingh Stadium which is comparatively a bigger ground than Chinnaswamy Stadium. Which means it will suit his bowling strategies very delightedly.

Then he got the team India call and debut against Sri Lanka. Impressive performances also helped him get included in India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Chahar, however, suffered an injury and hasn’t played an international game, since. The last game he had played is against RSA-A representing India-A’s side.

Having made his debut in IPL in 2017, Rahul Chahar has come a long way. The veteran spinner finger spinner has come back to the national team for white-ball cricket. For the last few he had been just playing test cricket. From getting a place in the World Cup squad, BCCI is now considering Ashwin white formats also. He had played the last couple of ODI and t20i matches. Although he was not out of form or not unfit for playing white-ball cricket. It was BCCI who was considering him because they wanted to go with leg spinners for the white ball format. Ashwin always has a decent year in the IPL season. He is economical and can bowl with a new ball also.

Along with Yuzvendra Chahal, Rajasthan Royals have managed to buy the services of Ravichandran Ashwin as well. Rajasthan Royals were involved in a bidding war with Delhi Capitals for Ravichandran Ashwin and, eventually, managed to buy him for a prize of INR 5 crores. Ravichandran Ashwin’s experience should keep the team in good stead. He will bowl in tandem with Yuzvendra Chahal and keep the run-flow in check in the middle-overs. Ashwin had played 164 innings and got 145 wickets having an average of 27.8 and an economy rate of 6.91. Ashwin is not aged too much, he still has some pretty more years to play.
