IPL 2022: Lucknow Super Giants owned by the RPSG group had a splendid outing at the IPL Mega auction. The Lucknow Super Giants are one of the two new franchises in the IPL, alongside Gujarat Titans. The Super Giants exhausted their purse amount to buy a total of 21 players in their squad. They were allowed to draft 3 players ahead of the auction. Exercising the option, Lucknow Super Giant bought KL Rahul (INR 17 Cr), Marcus Stoinis (INR 9.2 cr), and Ravi Bishnoi (INR 4 cr) ahead of the auction from the purse amount. Here’s the complete IPL team list for the 2022 season.

LSG has made sensible purchases and has built a balanced squad. With auctions now over, the team management will now look to figure out the right team combinations before going into the tournament. The Lucknow Super Giants have roped in former Zimbabwean cricketer Andy Flower as their head coach. Vijay Dahiya will be Andy Flower’s apprentice i.e Assistant coach. Two-time IPL winning captain Gautam Gambhir will be the mentor for the team.

The team has a formidable think tank and will look to strategize on every front. KL Rahul is the captain and lead batsman of the team. The team’s batting department has the likes of Quinton De Kock and Manish Pandey. Whereas the likes of England fast bowler Mark Wood and draft pick Ravi Bishoi enrich the bowling department.

In this segment, we shall take a look at the Lucknow Super Giants’ best possible bowling attack consisting of 2 fast bowlers, 1 all-rounder, and 1 spinner. The selection is made on the basis of availability and permissible limit of 4 overseas in the team.

1. Two Fast Bowlers

The Lucknow Super Giants were in a bidding war to win Avesh Khan. He was ultimately roped in for a hefty INR 10 cr. Avesh Khan is tall and hits the deck hard to extract seam movement. He was part of the Delhi Capitals last year and finished as their leading wicket-taker. He is part of India’s ODI and T20 squad for the home series against the West Indies.

Another bowler LSG bid aggressively for was Mark Wood. The fast bowler from England generates a good pace and touches 150 kmph frequently. Both Mark Wood and Avesh Khan have identical bowling styles and generate movement off the pitch. They are both quick and will complement each other.

2. One All-rounder

Marcus Stoinis was the draft pick of the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the auction. He was roped in ahead of the auction for INR 9.2 Cr. However, there is a possibility that he may not be the first choice for the all-rounder. LSG has bought West Indies captain and former Sunriser Hyderabad member Jason Holder for INR 8.75 Cr. Jason Holder is tall and reminisces of a bowler from the dominant era of the West Indies. He is a splendid timer of the ball and can tonk the ball long. Unlike Marcus Stoinis, he would provide depth in bowling.

3. One Spinner

Ravi Bishnoi was the third draft pick of the Lucknow Super Giants before going into the auction. Bishnoi belongs to the new school of spin bowling. Instead of guile, he bowls with a flatter trajectory. He is quick off the deck and has a sharp googly. Bishnoi was very impressive during his stint at Punjab Kings XI. He has adjudged the Emerging Player Award for picking up 12 wickets in his IPL debut season. Bishnoi was recently roped into the national side in the home series against the West Indies. Ravi Bishnoi will surely be the lead spinner for the Lucknow Super Giants this season. Read more reviews here about Mobile Bet365 and learn how it works online.
