After the last evening’s win against Punjab Kings (PBKS), RR are firmly stationed in third place and are one step away from the playoffs. Hetmyer played a good hand of 31 from 16 balls to guide RR home in a big run chase by 6 wickets and 4 balls to spare. In fact, Hetmyer has been one of the chief orchestrators in Royals’ surge in the points table. In 11 innings, the southpaw has accumulated 291 runs with a strike rate of 166.29 and an average of 72.5. Out of those 11 innings, Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 7 occasions.

His death-overs (17-20) strike rate is a more telling statistic of his power. Hetmyer has amassed 200 runs at the death so far with a strike rate of 214. the highest among batters with a min of 30 balls in the slog overs. Hence the franchise want him back for RR’s remainder of matches. Read Bet365 IPL reviews here and know more about how online betting works through this app.

IPL 2022 LIVE: “Hetmyer will be back soon,” RR in a statement

Rajasthan shared a video on Twitter showing Hetmyer hugging his teammates. In the video, the West Indies white-ball specialist said, Hettie here! Babies are born only once and this will be my first. My stuff is still left in the room. It is only because of a special emergency that I am leaving. Don’t miss me too much, see you soon.”

“Shimron Hetmyer has travelled back to Guyana early morning today for the imminent birth of his first child. We are helping him in every way we can, and our best wishes are with him and his wife Nirvani,”

RR said in a official statement

“We look forward to Shimron then returning to Mumbai, and resuming duties at the Royals for the remainder of our matches in IPL 2022. All the best, Hettie. We can’t wait to have you back, this time as a father!”

the statement added

Hetmyer will miss the game against Delhi Capitals (DC)

IPL 2022 LIVE: Hetmyer will at least miss RR’s next game against Delhi Capitals (DC) which is scheduled to be played at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on Wednesday, May 11. After reaching Mumbai, Hetmyer will have to undergo three-day mandatory quarantine to be available for selection again.

Daryll Mitchell, James Neesham, Karun Nair, Rassie Van der Dussen, and Nathan Coulter-Nile will be in line to fill the void left by Hetmyer. RR can’t be complacent coming to the business end of the tournament and need to be spot on with their selection. RR have three-game remaining and they need to win at least one to seal a playoff birth. After the game against the Capitals, they will play LSG on May 15 and CSK on May 20.
