After a 9-year absence, the left-handed batsman, dubbed as ‘pocket dynamite’, will return to the Delhi team. Last season, Warner, who had led the SRH franchise to the IPL victory, had a fallout with their team administration. This resulted in him losing his captaincy as well. Kane Williamson of New Zealand became the captain in the middle of last season.
When Warner was suspended for his role in the ‘Sandpapergate’ affair, the Kiwi batsman took over and led the team to the final in 2018. Sunrisers Hyderabad enjoyed a good run under Warner’s captaincy as well. They won the 2016 IPL on their own ground against Royal Challengers Bangalore under his leadership. While captaining Hyderabad, the left-handed batsman also won the ‘Orange’ cap for the most runs in the competition in 2019, 2017, and 2015.
Warner has been vocal about his affection for the franchise on social media. And now, he has shared images with Kane Williamson on Instagram on Wednesday. The franchise’s previous captain posted a touching message for his former teammate Kane Williamson, who had taken over as captain midway through the season in 2021. On his Instagram account, Warner expressed that he misses having breakfast and playing cricket with him.
Warner is also visible sitting near Williamson’s infant girl in one of the images.
“Going to miss my breakfast time with the Williamson’s and I will miss playing cricket with you brother!! #bromance #cricket #friends @kane_s_w.”
