IPL 2023: “I am an Annoying Captain,” Says MS Dhoni
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has said that he is an annoying captain to work with on the cricket field. However, his words came at the post-match presentation ceremony after Chennai beat Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League to reach the final of the tournament as well. Notably, Dhoni was asked by Harsha Bhogle, the veteran commentator about two catches that turned the table in Chennai’s favour.

The first one was a stunning grab from Ruturaj Gaikwad at deep mid-wicket, who came rushing in and dived to grab a low catch from Vijay Shankar and then Gujarat’s last hope Rashid Khan who holed out Devon Conway at deep cover in the 19th over of the game as well. Bhogle asked MS Dhoni how much of the field he controlled since he was seen as very excited after the two catches.

However, Dhoni’s reply surprised Bhogle when he said that he can be very annoying to work with on the field because players have to keep looking at him, all the time for his instructions as well.
IPL 2023: MS Dhoni led CSK to the 10th IPL final
“I didn’t want it to go that way but you just hope it goes that way. You keep adjusting the field. I can be an annoying captain as I shift the fielder here and there every time. So the fielder needs to keep an eye on me. Imagine every two-three balls I am telling you to move 2 or 3 feet to the left or right. I believe in my gut feeling and what is really happening, so it pays off,” MS Dhoni told Harsha Bhogle at the post-match presentation ceremony.
When he was asked about the feat of reaching 10 IPL finals, Dhoni said that it was not easy before and now it has been made tougher with the two more teams in the league as well. However, he applauded his players and said that everyone had contributed to the success of the team in IPL 2023.
“Earlier it used to be eight teams with the best players in the world and now it’s 10 teams so it will be even tougher. It’s hard work of 2 months that’s why we are standing here,” Dhoni said that sit was tough to get into the final of the Indian Premier League. A lot of character shown by the individuals from where we started to where we are. I feel everybody has contributed. Middle order has not got ample opportunity but in between everybody has got a chance to chip in, and they have done that so very happy with where we are,” MS Dhoni concluded.
