IPL 2023: ‘It’s An Entire Star Cast’: Aakash Chopra On Sunrisers Hyderabad

“This team’s bowling. It is an entire star cast. Fast bowlers, plenty of them – Fazalhaq Farooqi, Marco Jansen, Kartik Tyagi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan. In spinners, they have Mayank Markande, Akeal Hosein, Washington Sundar, and Adil Rashid. Their bowling is their strength because they are probably the only team in the tournament to play an all-India bowling attack.”

Said Chopra on the ‘AakashVani’ show on JioCinema

The 45-year-old added that their all-Indian bowling attack makes them unique among teams, and their bowling is their strength. According to Chopra, they may use Adil Rashid as an attacking option and field a complete fast bowling unit made up of Indian players.

Together with South Africa’s Marco Jansen, the former cricketer-turned-commentator suggested that Hyderabad may also have three Indian seamers. He said Washington Sundar and team captain Aiden Markram could bowl a few overs for the team. As Kane Williamson was let go from the team in 2022, Markram has been given the captaincy responsibilities for the 2023 edition.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Batting Options

“You can play three out of the four, and then you can play a spinner in the form of Washington Sundar, who also bats, and then Marco Jansen and a little bowling from Aiden Markram. Abhishek Sharma also bowls a little left-arm spin.”

Said Aakash Chopra

The SunRisers Hyderabad, according to Chopra, don’t have any obvious flaws. He did admit, though, that the team would face some selection problems if Aiden Markram, who will be captaining for the first time in the IPL, struggles at the plate. In their starting XI, Heinrich Klaasen will probably be the chosen wicketkeeper-batter for the organization.

Glenn Phillips, the potent middle-order batsman from abroad who can also play wicketkeeper, is another option they have.
