“We Had To Change Our Plans”: Aashish Kapoor
Before the game had started, Hardik injured his back, putting the team in danger. According to Kapoor, Hardik was unable to bowl because of his stiff back.
Aashish Kapoor said“We had to change our plans a bit because, just before the start, Hardik pulled his back. It was a bit stiff, and he couldn’t bowl. So, we had to change the planning of who had to open the bowling. Hardik was opening the bowling for us all this while. That was why he [Mohit Sharma] had to bowl upfront. We all know that Rashid is a top-class player. There is no doubt about it, and people look at him as a spinner, but he has proven that he is a top all-rounder, at least in this format.”
Rashid Khan gave an excellent all-around effort for GT, and for MI, Suryakumar was spectacular. He led the chase with 79* off 32 while taking four wickets with the ball.
Aashish Kapoor had nothing but appreciation for the flexible Afghan cricketer. Rashid put on an amazing show in vain.
Mumbai Indians vs Gujarat Titans
Aashish Kapoor said“Last year, he got a lot of batting and won many matches for us. This year this is the first time he got a decent inning in which he got some balls to bat, and he almost pulled it off. If we had one or two good overs upfront, maybe we would have got even closer.”
The former cricketer discussed how to take out prolific hitter Suryakumar Yadav, who smashed an unbeatable 49-ball 103. According to Aashish, the think tank expected Noor Ahmad to be eliminated, much like during the April 25 first meeting. But with little time for rest, Suryakumar outplayed the opposing bowling unit with a furious knock that won plaudits from the GT assistant coach. Gujarat Titans was raised from 103/8 to 191/8 by Rashid’s ferocious innings, which featured three fours and ten sixes.
