Watch: Mohit Sharma scalps a 5-wicket haul in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 2

The experienced pacer has been assigned a very specific role of the specialist death bowler by Hardik Pandya. He came into the bowling attack at a time when Suryakumar Yadav was looking threatening. However, just on the 3rd delivery he managed to uproot Suryakumar Yadav’s stumps allowing Gujarat Titans to make a comeback in the game.

Mohit then got rid of Vishnu Vinod, who had come as the concussion substitute for keeper-batter Ishan Kishan, in the same over to put his side in front. In his second over, the GT pacer added a couple of more wickets to his tally, in the form of Chris Jordan and Piyush Chawla both of whom could have contributed with the bat.

Mohit Sharma then dismissed Kumar Kartikeya in his third over to complete his maiden fifer in IPL. He ended his spell with 5-10 as he registered his best IPL figures. The GT pacer also became only the second bowler in the history of IPL to grab a 5-wicket haul in playoffs after Akash Madhwal grabbed a 5-fer in the IPL 2023 Eliminator against the LSG side on May 24.

Courtesy of the brilliant spell bowled by Mohit Sharma, Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai Indians, who were once cruising towards the target, in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 by 62 runs. The Hardik Pandya-led side will now contest against the Chennai Super Kings in the much awaited IPL 2023 Final on May 28 in Ahmedabad.
